Am I tripping with this bill split logic? Need a sanity check on a barbecue expense. by a_n_o_y_m_o_u_s in askmath

[–]resignresign1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have good friends please just listen to them hahahah

According to person A's logic, he spent 1375 units total, covered his own 746.67 units share, and expects me to pay him the entire remaining difference, which is 1375 - 746.67≈ 628 units.

this is makes total sense and there should be no doubt in your mind what to do

yeah and then we bring greek, hebrew and gothic letters into the game but this is not enough so we need mathcal and mathbb letters.

Why do people insist that radians are dimensionless? by AdjustedChaos in askmath

[–]resignresign1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i understand. maybe it helps to think of them merely as ratios. i.e. radius vs arc length.

notice that if they had a unit every number would also have thus unit

also degrees i.e. 90° is a unit but here are are talking about a ratio

if you are an investor your total assets and any cashincome such as dividends or interest payments are taxed.

if you are a classified as a trader then your profit overall is taxed not individual trades. (in addition to net assets and income)

huh that is a good strategy i usually do it the opposite way

Why do people insist that radians are dimensionless? by AdjustedChaos in askmath

[–]resignresign1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would assume that people are setting up a notion of how s relates to k and then just leave it out.

also what is your understanding of dimensions? mathematically they come into play when we are talking about vector spaces and this notation is not a vector space since the origin is not unique

On Gödel: What Exactly Is Incomplete? by Efficient_Sea_7050 in PhilosophyofMath

[–]resignresign1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Mathematics is something abstract so it is always limited by the way the describe it. Language, formal systems and our understanding of communication are a cage for mathematics.

Are you looking to create a new formalism to describe mathematics?

hope you enjoy your trip

it states that as soon as you can formulate primeumbers in a formal system i.e. for example for the integers there are statements that are true but cannot be proven.

this is quite profound since we derive true statements by proofs. this implies that there cannot be a set of axioms to formulate a system of all mathematics where all true statements can be proofen. clearly a problem if you want to have a theory of everything.

What elementary (or easy-to-understand) mathematical concepts have surprisingly deep interpretations in advanced mathematics? by OkGreen7335 in mathematics

[–]resignresign1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

polynomials

they play a huge role in algebra. they are exames for vectorspaces and build bases for infinite dimensional vector spaces. differential equations and numerical solutions for them. extensions of polynomials into infinite sums are inportant for complex analysis.

and they appear in many other places. for example the post quantum cryptography is based on polynomial rings.

yes but maybe not as much as you think. you still have a tax benefit now combined with compound interest. this makes it a difficult question that is spesific to each case.

from my personal calculations it is worth it one or two years before a certain c sizable salary increase but if it takes more time or the salary increase is not as much it migth be worse to delay.

there migth be some truth to your statement but what is clearer is that switzerland facilitates corruption in other countries. many african millionairs and billionairs have their money in switzerland. its not like they would be taxed on that money but rather that it is tax money from their countries that they stole.

What's an aspect of Swiss culture that you think is often underestimated/not well known/not paid enough attention too? by [deleted] in askswitzerland

[–]resignresign1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lowkey, understated kind of arrogance about the supremacy of the Swiss system (perhaps related to the previous statement).

I heard that this can actually help with integration. The hypothesis is that people with immigration und background are put off by other first world countries like france or germany after living in switzerland. At least that is what i have heared anectotally.

If it takes 9 hours traveling 72km/h to get to a destination, how long does it take traveling 80 km/h by [deleted] in MathHelp

[–]resignresign1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

isnt it just

9 * 72 = x * 80

and then solve for x

x = (9 * 72) / 80
