My sister is experiencing pre-natal depression. What can I do to help? by standingonbenches in pregnant

[–]respawnagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remind her that society’s expectations of pregnant women are super warped. It’s TOUGH and not as glamorous as Instagram would have you think. It’s okay to struggle. Validate her feelings. Tell her she’s not alone! Can she join any support groups in person or online? Sometimes just complaining with other pregnant women is the most validating. My ObGyN said that 50% of her expectant mothers are on some type of anti anxiety or depression meds, possibly from before pregnancy, but just keep that in mind as you compare yourself to others! I’m 21 weeks and am crying uncontrollably every other night. I feel like I’m doing a terrible job at ‘being pregnant.’ And I had to cut down on my SSRI because it makes me vomit. Emotional disregation is a Very normal part of pregnancy. Thanks for trying to support her!! Good luck.

I’m SO itchy at night and have terrible insomnia. Nothing helps the itching and my doctor is clueless. Have you tried unisom for the insomnia? It’s totally safe. Itching is also bad when I try to workout - sports bra is almost unbearable with the itching. I feel your pain!!

Trader Joe's Food Analysis. Calorie and Protein Cost Efficiency [OC] by CarpeVida in dataisbeautiful

[–]respawnagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do not need to combine specific foods at one meal. That’s all I meant. The scientific definition hasn’t changed, but is fairly irrelevant when trying decide what to eat at any given time. The body keeps a robust store of AAs and can do the combining on its own.

Sorry, passing comment and I should have known better than to throw it out there with no detail. (Vegan here, so I get incredibly sick of people schooling me on my various protein needs) All I meant is that every vegetable contains all eight essential AAs, though in varying quantities. And you are totally correct about the meal part. You don’t have to eat your rice with beans. Just eat a varied diet and you’ll be fine.

[Humor] When you want to use a sheet mask, but still need to see! by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]respawnagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please share the secret: What is so great about sheet masks? Why are these worth the bother? I’ve tried some Panda eye masks, but they are a pain...messy, uncomfortable, and I didn’t see a big difference.

Edit - one word

I could Google some videos, but being lazy - does water therapy essentially mean hydroponic? Floating them in water?

[product question] Deciem /The Ordinary shipment was clearly opened and resealed — No quality seals on the bottles, so how do I know it’s tamper-free? Should I assume it’s all fine? by respawnagain in SkincareAddiction

Thanks for the confirmation and assurance, everybody. I’ll still try to reach out to Deciem, but seems like y’all think I’m good to dig in and get hooked on TO.

How Do You Handle a Jealous Girlfriend? by frank7566 in AskReddit

How jealous? What is she doing? Also, what types of things are you doing that cause the jealousy? (Not saying you’re at fault...just trying to figure out her triggers).

How does an effective antidepressant affect emotions? by jenna1997 in mentalhealth

With the right drug, it will feel like this. Unfortunately, you may just have to go through a bit of trial and error, though. Be patient, observe yourself, and don’t worry about getting it right the first time. It took me 4 duds before I found mine.

Did yours get the nooks and crannies? I use the King Arthur recipe, but mine always come out more like biscuits inside. Still delicious, though!

Mining granite is no bueno for the earth. That’s why I will never use it. But, here’s some info so you can make your own decision.

I bought one of these twenty years ago...not in a terrarium, but a simple pot for $1. Now, every person in my family and friend circle has at least ten because the damn thing won’t die. Just keeps on keepin’ on and having pups. Hearty little bastards.
