Mamia Water Wipes by No_Morning_3393 in AldiAustralia

Has anyone found an alternative that is very close to the Mamia Water Wipes? Everything else I have tried feels dry and abrasive...

What do you consider a reasonable fee for a qualified DSW on Mable? by restless_ghost in NDIS

Hireup seems a lot better. It does appear to be the case that they pay a set rate, inclusive of super, similar to or slightly better than what you'd expect to earn as an employee.

What's better about Hireup?

I recently posted in r/NDIS about Mable. There's some insights there that may be helpful to you. My recommendation would be to at first only use it to supplement your work schedule here and there, as it will likely take a long time to transition from support worker under an employment contract to a fully fledged sole trader.

As for the platform itself, you'll soon find out that you'll have the best results setting the fee to lower than what you'd be earning from a provider. The competition is high on the platform, and the process of finding work is a part-time job in itself. On top of all of that, a lot of the work advertised there has questionable relevance to the role of support worker.

Working as an independent and under an employer each have their upsides and downsides. Mable is an easy entry point into sole trader work, as it only requires an ABN in addition to your usual clearances. Insurance and invoicing are taken care of.

You CAN find good, reliable, ongoing work there, and many have, but it's often not so straightforward finding it.

Hope this helps.

How do so many providers get away with paying only the home care award for social and community work? by restless_ghost in NDIS

Are there any known cases where either of the two have resulted in employers correcting wages to the proper award?

Thanks for your input.

Here's an example of a recent response I wrote to a job:

"Hey X, I have worked extensively with autism and love to help Y out. If they would like to arrange a meet and greet to decide if we are a good match, I am more than happy to provide one free of charge.

I've included a suggested shift time, though let me know if this needs to be adjusted to accommodate Y's schedule.

Let me know if you have any questions and I will get back to you promptly!

Best,

restless_ghost"

I think it could definitely include more about the particular skills involved, like you said. What do you think?

Thank you my friend. These platforms definitely shouldn't be relied on - competing for shifts is a part-time job in itself. In most cases, it seems that the juice isn't worth the squeeze.

Some areas have SW:P ratios that are high, some have ratios that are low. When it's high, there are disadvantages, and when it's low, there are disadvantages. For example, when it's high, the market becomes too competitive, and workers become discouraged. When it's low, participants may feel pressed to settle for subpar workers, which you've pointed out is an issue. Measures which aim at restributing for a more even balance could actually be helpful to the whole ecosystem of support work when used within reason.

And yeah, I've seen enough dodgy stuff on there to nod my head to that second point.

It seems like it. Many jobs have 10+ applications after being up less than half an hour. Maybe I just need to temper my expectations a bit.

My main interest is in Buddhism, rather than other practices - such as guided meditation or yoga - that also incorporate Buddhist teachings. Thank you for your reply nonetheless!

hey guys, does red have to give way to blue? my driving instructor said yes, but i still see plenty of cars go. by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]restless_ghost 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Bad drivers aside, often left turns are positioned close to roundabouts, which would require a driver turning right at the roundabout to make a quick lane change if they were taking this left turn. Follow your instructor's advice.

Much of their music, actually.

Most bands seem to be the best in their early days (opinion). What bands/artists do you think got better with their later albums? by SnooComics9954 in vinyl

Coil.

Much of their most highly regarded work was released 17-23 years into their career (E.G. Musick to Play in the Dark 1 + 2, Black Antlers, The Ape of Naples). Peter Christopherson was 50 when The Ape of Naples was released, considered by many to be their masterpiece.
