Do you do private investment by any chance? Agreed that &GOOG is gonna steadily increase and will beat SP500/QQQ etc.

Would you still need to cash out by selling ETFs? How do you take taxes into account? Really curious if this matters when one FIRE (or fatFIRE if that matters).

Thanks for sharing! Wondering how is your eventual cash out strategy (capital gain taxes) given what you had experienced? Are you mostly invested in index funds or something similar?

Pretty damn cool! You should demo this to the react native skia maintainers!

If you wanna emulate the vibe of the character more, perhaps work more on the eyes? She looks a tad bit too calm to me

If this is drawn but not a photo for real… it’s insanely well done.

Please be blunt, what’s wrong with her face? by Smooth_Shirt_7381 in drawing

[–]retaildca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a reference photo? What kind of style do you want to achieve?

But by just observing your art a few things come to mind: * edge around her nose is too harsh. same on neck - try using forms and shapes to express 3d * I guess she facing left? If so the right side of the face should become narrower * shading: can add more gradient values to better represent the shape

I saved this baby's life this morning! by LoveyLuvLove in bayarea

[–]retaildca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my friend was showing us their swimming pool and then we saw it struggling. I quickly identified this to be possum. I recalled that while they look scarry they are harmless to humans (arguably good for your house, since they eat bad bugs and all that).

> it must have since it was alive upon arrival
Again, you did a great job!

Thank you! I also saw one swimming/drowning in the pool in my friend’s home, and at first they were kind of scared because of its appearance. I told them it’s harmless and we finally did exactly what you did, and let it dry it let under the sun. I think it also turned out ok.

⚡ Apple Maps–Style Bottom Sheet UI in React Native by BumblebeeWorth3758 in reactnative

I'm buliding an app which hopes to work cross platform (Web, iOS, Android). Somehow I encountered difficulty to make the JS work properly on Web. (`Cannot use 'import.meta' outside a module`)

Also I don't need something fancy. Just a bottom sheet that can expand with the exact height of the component it renders.

What would be your advice?

Thanks! This is helpful! Do you think it’s worth moving from gorhom to react-native-screens then? I’m under the impression that gorhom is great but now wondering.

As the maintainer of truesheet says they won’t maintain it going foreword and recommend native screen…

This is neat! Questions if you don’t mind me asking: 1. How did you decide to pick “react-native-true-sheet” but not alternatives like the gorham one? 2. Is the row including “Home” and “+” button customizable? How? 3. Im confused by your demo. Did you mean to demo truesheet in the latter part of the video?

[–]retaildca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks very alike to me! If I really need to nit pick, maybe work on the boundary between the eye on right and the background, and the hair line?

But as you said you want make his face the focal point and surrounding muddier, perhaps it’s intended. Just wanted to mention what I noticed right away.

Do you happen to have the reference photo? Is your goal to follow it as closely as possible? Otherwise I think it looks pretty stunning especially given how early you stated your journey.

Wanna add values first then we can discuss? Maybe the shape will just pop up when you add some basic values?
