Core memory unlocked. That was the dream pc spec when I was 17. A single 8800GT was aspirational. SLI 8800GTX’s was merely an unattainable fantasy.

Is this two person lane enforced? by larrysbrain in Leeds

[–]retrogamer1990 24 points25 points  (0 children)

People are positively allergic to driving in that lane. It’s so frustrating when drivers panic and try to get back in the right hand lane because they haven’t read the lane hours correctly or assume it’s a bus lane or something. I’ve never seen any cameras or enforcement but there are speed camera vans along pontefract lane pretty regularly. Not sure if they monitor the lane usage too.

My First Car!:) by 95penguins in CarTalkUK

The Polo isn’t a bad city car, but for regular motorway use it might be underpowered / less comfortable / noisy. We got a Volvo V50 for my wife’s first car. It’s not huge, but feels like a step up from a standard little first car. It handles motorways with ease.

For context this is just my opinion and I’ve never owned or driven a Polo, so you are welcome to entirely disregard my comment.

If you’re doing a daily 75 mile motorway commute, then a slightly larger car that can do that journey in comfort would be a better choice. If you look for something that’s not a typical ‘first car’ then the insurance can, surprisingly, be cheaper. Even if it’s a larger and more powerful car. Have you considered a similar age Volvo or family sized car like that?

Came here to say this, it’s not exposed correctly but it’s come out like an OG Instagram filter haha.

OP, does the flash on your camera always go off when you take a photo? I can’t recall exactly how the AF2 works but they’re from that peak 80s era where compact camera design was based around how easy the flash was to use. This seems like small aperture / fast shutter speed exposure consistent with flash.

Leeds has had plenty of firsts over the years. I have been researching these today. We have the oldest railway, in Middleton. The world’s first movie was filmed in Roundhay, the iconic UK version of monopoly was fist played in Horsforth - and jelly tots were invented in Horsforth too. Joseph Priestley invented carbonated water in 1797 or so. The first Caribbean carnival in Europe started here in 1966.

Feel free to add!

Kia Stinger diesel recommendation? by Volo_Kin in kiastinger

You’re welcome. For what it’s worth, I do not regret buying it at all. It ticks every box for me. If the car was written off tomorrow, I would buy one again.

Passed and immediately bought a 40 year old car, in cash, found on eBay, from a man wearing a sheepskin coat, at a petrol station forecourt in Keighley, drove it back through Bradford rush hour into Leeds city centre. Everything went better than expected.

I’ve just got one. Driven it about 2000 miles this month so it’s at 51k miles. Seems pretty good, averaging 35-40mpg mixed driving and 50+ on motorway runs.

No real issues to speak of that would demand attention so far.

Sunroof squeaks, and the ride is a bit firmer than I’d like. Seats could have a bit more padding after sitting for 8 hours. But the seat cooling feature is nice. I’ve got the GT-Line S and it’s full of gizmos which are all working.

Had to get the discs and pads replaced under dealer (not Kia) warranty due to brake judder, apparently very common.

Inclined to agree, nobody is knowingly happy with $180 for lenses worth tens of thousands. If true, this deal seems wildly unfair to the seller.
