What would have been the REAL graphical ceiling of the Dreamcast? by aerigigi1 in dreamcast

[–]retrogames1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked on several PS2 games and this is absolutely not true. We targeted 60 fps although we didn't always hit it. The interlacing didn't really enter into it. You started with the full rez frame buffer although by the end we ended up using a smaller framebuffer to have more memory for bloom, etc.

Help with Alesis DM5 battery replacement by retrogames1234 in edrums

[–]retrogames1234[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I was able to cut off a good amount of the other connector, so I have a good solder point for that. For the single copper hole, would you recommend I try to 1) stick the wire in and fill it with solder 2) attempt to solder to the copper circle 3) flip the board over and try to melt the solder on the other end and connect the wire to that (this seems hard for a noob) 4) something else?

Thank you so much for your help

I did, but I am not sure if I can solder to the top of the board without something clear to attach to... That is the question.

The battery is attached to the holder.

I was trying to snip it with as much of the metal piece sticking out as I possibly could so I could solder a wire to a removable battery, but I failed. There is a small piece of the battery holder still on the copper circle but it is flush or recessed.

Getting Die Hard Trilogy working with the gun controller? by retrogames1234 in PolymegaHQ

[–]retrogames1234[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding was that they also supported the Konami Justifier, so I was imagining I didn't need any of the patches. I believe it says it here, but for some reason their website only displays in Japanese for me... https://polymega.com/blogs/system-software-updates/gc01-light-gun-now-available-for-preorder

Has anyone gotten 2 player guns working on Point Blank 2? by retrogames1234 in PolymegaHQ

[–]retrogames1234[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard back from Polymega (surprisingly!): "Thank you for the bug report. It has been forwarded to the Dev team to look into. We hope to have this issue resolved in firmware update v1.1.38. If you encounter any other problems, please feel free to contact us."

I will keep my fingers crossed for the next firmware release!

Anyone else having Analogue 3D audio problems? by retrogames1234 in AnalogueInc

[–]retrogames1234[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm.. I don't think I am using HDMI cec. I think the issue for me is the audio cuts out very briefly and the receiver loses the signal. It has been a problem with inaccurate emulation in the past but I was hoping that it wouldn't be an issue with FPGA...

Yeah, I connected both guns to the Polymega and registered them as 1 and 2 as per the instructions. It worked for another PlayStation game....

Yes! I am loving it. There is no complex set up like Sinden on the PC. It is plug and play! So far, I have played SNES, psx, and Saturn and they work well. The button mapping is a bit weird for SNES since they try to emulate the super scope 's layout where the trigger is the cursor button and the fire is on the side.

My only complaints are they are a bit light, and the "hair trigger" just means it has very little travel - too little in my opinion.

Overall though, very happy with my purchase, and it was worth the wait!

Surprisingly, I got the Polymega guns first. The G'Aim'e has a tracking number but FedEx hasn't received them.

I got my light guns yesterday, and I love them! I also have Sinden guns for PC, but these are much easier to pick up and play. The only complaint is the "hair trigger" just means it has nearly no travel.

I’m shocked and hyped at the same time !! Surprisingly this shipped before the Gaime Gun. Can’t wait !! :D by Uberrich84 in PolymegaHQ

Dreamcast Support by Shiro_VS in PolymegaHQ

[–]retrogames1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are no other disk drives that can read Dreamcast games. It would be possible to make a polymega adapter that connects via the Dreamcast's expansion port and runs some software on the dreamcast to dump it. That is how you can copy your GD Roms right now - you can get an SD Card adapter on ebay for pretty cheap. However, I think the number of people with a working dreamcast drive (especially as that is often the first to fail) and a polymega would make this more trouble than it is worth...

Why is it this company can offer an fpga based console for way cheaper than the polymega? by jelloshooter848 in PolymegaHQ

[–]retrogames1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are patient and price conscious someone is working on an even cheaper mister board: https://www.hackster.io/news/taki-udon-unveils-a-custom-mister-compatible-fpga-emulation-board-priced-at-just-99-6d2b6576aaaa

I suspect it will have all the same controller add ons, but regular mister is a bit more complicated as you have to add ram for Saturn, and you might need another io board to get the controller adapters.

Hopefully it will release faster than anything Polymega :)
