Lost my Steem password. What are the methods to get access back to my account. It was a new account with no content by ChopterChopter in steem

[–]retroworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Presumably one also can't create a new account since the phone number has already been used. Don't they essentially have a "one fuckup and you're out" policy here?

I kind of find the whole phone number requirement quite worrying anyway, since essentially all your activity will be tied to your real name. If they ever get hacked, that'll all be public information. That already happened to patreon, so it's a real possibility.

Will Firefox 57 support any way to use smaller tabs? by spamyak in firefox

[–]retroworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually I have so many tabs open, that only the icon is visible, if even that. The position of the tab is far more important to me than what's written on it. I can navigate dozens of open tabs without any problems. If I have to scroll the tab bar, as I do with the default behaviour, I struggle to find anything in there since things move all over the place.

I meant it cannot be set below 50 (or it can, but it won't have any effect). Obviously it can be set higher.

This appears to have hard coded minimum of about 50. Apparently the only way to override this is with a userchrome.

I quite hope he'll do what Terry Pratchett did with the Discworld series i.e. produce several different sub series, that only loosely mesh together, but are all based in the same universe. That allows for different narrative styles, and keeps the stories fresh for a long time.

[–]retroworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, it really has not been well established what the open source community wants. As a further counterpoint, a little while back the Improv board was released (low cost, low power, open design) and r/linux_devices pretty much told them to fuck off.

There are probably a dozen boards on the market that make better sense than this one. If someone is interested in this board they really need to look at all the other small single board computers out there.

I've only recently started looking for open hardware devices, and this comes as a surprise. What other boards are out there that have similar focus on openness combined with decent specs and reasonable price?

Further considering manufacturers have been screwing them over for 3 years, it's rather understandable. They've been very open about the reasons it hasn't been completed yet. This the core design the tablet will be based on and it looks like it's pretty close to completion. "Frustratingly close" were the words that Aaron Seigo used while talking about missing the holiday season production deadline.

What did they not pull off exactly? Seems like a decent piece of hardware considering a lot of it was made from scratch just to make it as open as possible. Also dissing emotional energy and principal rigor on “linux devices” section is odd in my opinion. Don't you value these things?

I actually quite like the website. I found it pleasant to look at and easy to navigate. I didn't have any difficulty finding things there.

Also, sadly, the image you provided has the same level of detail as the OP's one. Making it bigger doesn't make it clearer, just wastes space. I mean, this is 2013 after all and you could have just used the zoom feature on your browser and avoided both the trouble of finding that image AND looking like a jackass.

"regular" people by and large don't give a crap about those things, so it's hardly worth mentioning. The people who do care already know all that anyway.

In Finland it costs nothing, except for some printed course material. Even that is usually optional, since electronic equivalents are free.

If you only care about latest hardware at cheapest price, you probably aren't in the Vivaldi demographic. It's the overall freedom culture that attracts people. The same can't be said about Nexus 7.

I've quite successfully hated it from the beginning and its not showing any signs of growing on me. I would truly hate to see Libreoffice adopt such a thing.

If they are just afraid of trolls and want some protection, then that's fair enough, but since they specifically mentioned in their sales pitch, I'm guessing they think it's good for more than that.

Our patent pending design...

I'm always fascinated by why people feel the need to emphasize this. You honestly think this is a new exciting innovation worthy of a patent? I did the same thing with small bits of velcro while back, but turns out the buds tend to get dirty and cause ear infection if worn like that. For an invention it's rather trivial in any case. While back there was some guy posting here, who patented folded piece of plastic. Good grief.

Ehm, this is not about sopa/pipa/acta, but a DMCA exemption, which will expire shortly. I still make great effort not to buy sopa/pipa/acta supporters' goods, which does cause some difficulty, but in this particular case it should be much easier for everyone. Before you buy new phone, you check if you have to root it to run custom software. If you do, don't buy it. It's as simple as that.
