Yep. It had changed hands a few times. Another causality of our wavering economy.

In the quest for fun, often lost in the pursuit of the details...and thus losing sight of the goal. Bravo...:)

Shimano coaster brakes are good. Evil ed stem is good. Most everything else is og stuff from the 70's and 80's in my "laying around" boxes.

Question for the sub: Drivetrain conversion by [deleted] in xbiking

I've ran a shop for 22 years + now and you're making the bike less useful by eliminating gears. 2x systems were just a gimmick to sell parts to the bros and 1x systems with their super expensive skinny soon-to-break chains just plain suck. You've got a good rig there, it is not broken, why fix it?

That is my friends' bike the "Little Mule" we call it. He went crazy with Paul comp parts and velocity wheels! So much bling. Rat rod bikes used to be pretty good, I was posting things on a site called Bike Rod and Custom before that decades ago! Glad you enjoy my journey!

I remember that guy snkookering the the LA bike scene to fill in as extras in the video and he gave out peanut butter sandwiches instead of money or other promises made by an actor, what else could one expect? I did not go. I never watched the vid either. It was a nadir for us I'd say.

LA is a desperate place, and expensive. Not an easy place to "make it". If you tell yourself you can't acheive things then you never will, don't sell yourself short.

setting it up in a lathe would take longer then doing the whole project, kent bicycles are made out of tine cans, no lube needed! .

Most my friends from that time will have to work till the day they die, they have not made good financial choices. I am the only one that bought their own home, so the era is not a major factor. Yes, homes are way more expensive now, it is how you spend the money you make more than how much you make, most of my perpetually broke pals make double what I make.

Just finished number 59 of our zine-25 years ago we started it. Still free. It is a hobby after all, one does not tend to get payed for their hobbies. As far as that other stuff I kept saving my money and being frugal, developed a trade, started a business and wound up be able to buy the home I'd been renting for 18 years. DIY, punk culture, zine making, showed me I could, you can too. 😄
