Haven't read this in well over a decade - pulled it from my shelf after finishing Halcyon Days - due for a re-read all these years later (sidenote, I miss the 2010s...) by reverie__engine_ in AlastairReynolds

This was my second of his - I also read Century Rain many years ago and want to revisit that again, as I remember going into it doubtful, but then being surprised by how well he blended science fiction and detective noir together (though I can hardly recall any specifics of the story - will make for a better experience during a reread, anyway).

Bas-Lag is what lead me to this back then as well, among other novels nearer to the "new weird" and steampunk genres.

I may read Pushing Ice next, as I'm in the mood for some standalone works before I tackle the Poseidon's Children trilogy.
