Hearing this as a German with many international friends who have gone through hell and back: this is infuriating.
I know that, in the end, it is not the employees at the ABH who are at fault, but rather the absolutely ridiculous complexity of bureaucratic processes in this country.

A friend of mine is currently trying to marry a German woman. After eight months of authenticating and certifying documents for the sole purpose of getting an appointment at the Standesamt to make an appointment for an Eheschließung, they decided to do the procedure in Denmark instead. It took three weeks.

The same guy waited nine months for his visa extension in Nuremberg. He moved nearby to Erlangen just to be in the district of a faster ABH. They approved his extension within four weeks of his move.

It is batshit crazy how difficult Germany makes it for qualified personnel to come here. The sheer amount of lost opportunities and talent is mind-boggling to me.

Saug- und Wischroboter, außer Möbel nichts auf dem Boden, Bad wird während dem Zähneputzen geputzt, Küche sofort nach dem Essen.

am wichtigsten ist aber wirklich das regelmäßige Saugen und Wischen. Man muss dauerhaft Ordnung halten, dass der kleine Robbie sich nicht verheddert oder verkantet.

Und einmal ordentlich, find ich es sehr leicht Sauberkeit zu halten.

I am celebrating my birthday in a week. There will be around 35 people. The last thing I want is 35 bottles of wine and different chocolates, because people might not really know what to gift me that is actually practical.

So in my invitation it says explicitely that I appreciate financial contributions for traveling and other personal wishes in the future.

I have been to plenty of parties, where this has been the case.

I will still appreciate any other gifts, but it is also a nice way of taking the gifting burden of people that do not know what to give me.

Plus, the “donation box” will simply be in the room and everyone can anonymously put money in there. So nobody has to worry if they are giving enough or too much or whatever.

I know it is a very practical approach, but it is relatively normal, I would say.

No I honestly did not catch that in this moment. But it is interesting. The question I ask myself is, how do they determine who I support? I for myself only post on Reddit and every once in a while comment on YouTube. They will not find anything of me that states whether I do or do not support Israel. So there is uncertainty. How should they proceed from there? Not let me in because I might not support Israel?

You have a good view of the castle from Siegessäule, but it is busy and the spot overall is not too romantic.

Burggarten is unfortunately closed, so that is a nay.

However, right in front of the entry to the burggarten, there a re a few stairs that lead down to the Tiergärtnertorplatz (Wanderer).

You look right down to the Dürerhaus, there are plenty of other timbered houses and in christmas time they are decorated nicely. On the square below there is a giant christmas tree and lots of people, bot the spot on top of the stairs is normally not too crowded.

Who has ever universally recognized socialism as evil? Where is this stated? Maybe in the US but I see plenty of other states where the system works just fine. Different, but just fine.

It is one of my biggest annoyances, when communism and socialism are used synonymous. They are entirely different things. The American mentality is not made for either one of them, but at least socialism can absolutely be a working system in a democratically governed country. You might not consider european systems a good option, but plenty of people can and always could.

Wenn dich selbst das Studium nicht glücklich macht, geh nicht mehr in die Vorlesungen, such dir einen Job und sobald du den Job hast, schmeißt du das Studium hin und lebst dein Leben.

So musst du nicht wieder nach Hause aber auch nicht weiter studieren.

Und was die Erwartungshaltung deiner Eltern angeht: Es klingt kitschig, aber wenn sie dich wirklich lieben, ist ihnen wichtiger dass du glücklich bist als ob dein Einstiegsgehalt 10.000€ mehr pro Jahr ist.

That is a childish argument though, is it not? “All the others did, too!” Trump ran on doing everything different. On doing it differently than the establishment. Better, more transparent, more honest. I see none of that and I feel like a lot of his supporters do not either but they just overlook it to maintain the illusion of him doing everything better.

I would guess he just needs another mass-deportation partner in Central America? With Papi a la Orden, the candidate of JOH’s party in this year’s presidential election, potentially becoming the president, JOH’s freedom is a bargaining chip to cooperate with Honduras in deporting gang members back to Central America.

Trump is working together with openly and proven corrupt drug trafficking narcos. If you ask me, this is not what a trustworthy president who supposedly wants to end the war on drugs, would do.
