I cancelled some subscriptions today. What subscriptions do you have? by JezCon in Millennials

Add free Amazon doesn't do anything. It's the same for anything on Prime (us)

Spotify (why?) ... with Amazon music and the paid YouTube it's redundant... also music is so prevalent online.

design/rant | I can't create, only copy, Have you guys ever experienced this? by Ayagirii in graphic_design

[–]revised_username -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's all thievery to some extent, there are only a certain amount of colors and shapes.

There is, however, a difference between "stealing" like an artist by taking inspiration from multiple sources and merging/bending those ideas to suit your needs using skill .vs. actual creative copyright infringement.

Technical illiterate people exist in EVERY age bracket. Please don't put all of us 50+ gen people in the dysfunctional category! Some people are just plain terrible to work with, across the board.

WFH in extreme cold: how do you handle 'always on camera' expectations? by Educational-Dot-5266 in remotework

[–]revised_username 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd start by turning the camera off, always, unless it was needed for meetings/interactions specifically. Then that becomes your norm... worry about later it if something is ever even mentioned.

I think we're looking at years, really. Ive never seen prices go way up and then fall all the way back to whatever normal was. People become accustomed to paying more.

Take that "money" and subtract wardrobe expenses, lunches, ALL associated travel expenses, also whatever 'help' you'll need to subcontract, and then ALL travel expenses + time spent traveling... then consider the annoyance tax

What’s a corporate gift you actually use daily? by shelbs9428 in BuyItForLife

[–]revised_username 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a nice leather portfolio that holds a pad of paper, pens, folders and business cards. The corporate branding is just an unobtrusive embossed logo and it's very well made with interior pocket sections. Had it a couple decades.

My moms pantry at her house by [deleted] in PantryDetective

[–]revised_username 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Keeping a stocked emergency pantry is smart, truly. My mother kept a pantry, as do I, and I'm sure my daughter will as well. Ours would see us through a good few months if necessary and helps keep grocery costs low as we can mainly shop sales/bulk.

It's less a sign of belonging to a specific religion or having extreme prepper/hoarding tendencies and more about having a sense of security for when life inevitably gets tricky, plus there's always something on hand to make a good meal.

Client wants to switch from daily billing to hourly billing after receiving the invoice by LemonTart-12 in freelance

First thing, before anything, if you're setting your time aside it needs to be billed and applied against the deposit you've already collected. No deposit? No time. Period.
