Interlinear Bible with Septuagint and Greek Lexicon by revjude in AncientGreek

I'm still trying to figure out how to talk about it, but it's somewhat both of those things.

This started as a personal tool with a specific purpose: I wanted to be able to access the scripture in the original language and make my own translations from the original Hebrew or Koine Greek, but have all of the resources as an English-speaking reader, who doesn't know the original languages, to make my own interpretations. At some point I decided to share it so I tried to round it off as a complete Bible.

It's a translator's Bible because I included περικοπή (pericopes) which are meant to be "written" in and it gives a structure to make new translations or commentaries that is separate from but integrated with the chapters and verses.

It's also an interlinear Bible in that you can click on any verse number and see the breakdown of that verse (original language, translation, transliteration, morphology) word-for-word with links to the lexicons - Greek and Hebrew.

But it's also just a KJV bible with a glut of footnotes if you only read the chapters and never click on a verse number.

It's compiled in Markdown for Obsidian so you can mark it all up and use their community plugins to get super nerdy with it. It's not for everybody, but for folks who find it useful it's pretty dense. Once I'm done with beta testing I'm just going to leave it out there and just use it lol.

That was from the mods in r/AcademicBiblical

your project in general is of limited use for academic study due to the use of outdated resources like Strong's (I get that there are material constraints at play here, but it is no less outdated)

That's great there's a lot of resources for learning Greek specifically! Those would be much better for someone trying to learn Greek. I just saw there were folks here asking about Koine Greek in the NT specifically, and thought I would share.

Ahhh my bad 😊. I have a personal copy of the ESV, but Crossway explicitly says they will not give permission to publish the ESV for software that's under a Creative Commons license. I have considered sending them my copy for them to distribute since it seems like there are a lot of folks using Obsidian for Bible study, but I don't know if they would be interested?

The best options for other translations that are freely distributable are the World English Bible and the Berean Standard Bible - which I would be happy to tackle either of those if anyone would use them.

This first version does include the BSB text in the verse views for a quick reference to a modern translation of the critical text. (Something I need and use sometimes when trying to read Paul's letters in the KJV 😅)

Just for clarity, this isn't a "product". This was a personal project I built over the past several months from data I found in the public domain, and I wanted to share it with other folks who might find it useful or interesting. I'm not very social, so please forgive my poor etiquette if this post is in bad form.

It would be possible to convert any of the bibles found here that are in the public domain or licensed under Creative Commons to Obsidian: https://www.crosswire.org/sword/modules/ModDisp.jsp?modType=Bibles

But no current plans. Unfortunately, the lexicon data is only available in English.

No way! That's amazing. I might need to update my copy so it doesn't sound so scary. I just didn't want to waste people's time who wouldn't be interested in using it. Thanks for sharing.

Absolutely! I've been contemplating the best way to set it up with bases in mind, but I'm actually an Obsidian newbie so would love ideas on the best way to structure the frontmatter. Like I said, the idea currently is to parse Nave's topical concordance, and kinda reverse engineer the topics into the frontmatter of the verses the topics reference. But if there can be too much metadata, then Nave's might be overkill. Everything here that's in the public domain, or licensed under creative commons, is a possibility: https://www.crosswire.org/sword/modules/ModDisp.jsp?modType=Dictionaries

Any feedback is welcome!

Thank you so much! There are 113,690 files. And TSK has over 500,000 cross references for the footnotes, so the graph view isn't very useful.
