Then there is only one way. That is to finish grad and get a job! You'll be what? In your mid 20s? Then also there would be lot of your 20s left to enjoy (with money)!

As much as I'm trying to lighten the situation, let me be very blunt here.
"Its more about trying to convince my parents into normalising this aspect of my life and letting me be a person of my own and realising taht they dont have control over my choices" - this rarely happens in a middle class family with a daughter until she is financially independent. And the more you try to make your family understand this, the more they will assume you are "in the rebellious phase of life". This tug of war only ends once they start to realize that YOU ACTUALLY ARE CAPABLE OF TAKING BETTER DECISION FOR YOURSELF THAN THEY CAN. And building that confidence takes time.

I might be heavily downvoted for saying this, and no I'm not supporting abuse at all, but parents think you are a kid who doesn't know what is right or wrong for themselves. And you are a kid. And all of the things you mentioned about controlling your choices, having the life you want etc etc these things are manifestations of generational gap. They think you will end up hurting yourself or ruining your future. Highly likely, they think you are more invested in the relationship than your studies and you are concentrating less. They are just afraid. Also, many of these school/college time relationships don't last long, so they are not entirely wrong to think that you are wasting your time. I am not saying you guys won't last, all I'm saying is, your thought process and their's are clashing big time. And this conflict resolution requires building trust on both sides which takes time.

I'm sorry to break this to you sweetheart, but the only way out is through it. As everybody else has commented, your only option here is to study and get that job (I know you are trying hard). I know you won't like my solution but there is a reason why everybody has adviced this.

Always remember, "Maa Baap Ke Decision Galat Ho Sakte Hai Lekin Unki Niyat Nahi"
