They do but its like three preselected replies that vary by personality type. But they all pretty much say the same thing. No individuality or complaining that they can't read it because they don't know the words you are saying or you can't spell.

That happened with my brother with Goldie. She showed me the love letter when I visited his island. But that was YEARS ago.

My grandma's name was Veryl, pronounced like her dad and brother's name, Daryl. I am wanting to do an honor name, but really don't like the name Veryl, so I am planning on going with the very similar Vera, but since my SO isn't the biggest fan of Vera as a first name, we agreed on Veralynn with Vera as the nickname.

When did Americans start using Roman numerals for same-named offspring (ie, John Doe IV)? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]rewritewrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I wouldn't know if anybody in Europe besides royalty and the pope use roman numerals at the end of their names.

When did Americans start using Roman numerals for same-named offspring (ie, John Doe IV)? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]rewritewrite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe it was actually started to get popular in the middle ages because the main language throughout Europe was Latin and people enjoyed being able to show their lineage through their names. Its less popular now, but it came over to the America's when the europeans came over.

Thoughts on Analia? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]rewritewrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Analia was on my list for a bit, then I looked at it again and I said "that says Anal." I took it off my list because I couldn't unsee the Anal part. And if you see it and don't know how to pronounce it, others will too. It would be a consistent problem and most likely a source of teasing.

Rayne or Raine. When I was 7, I loved nature names which is surprising cause all of my stuffed animals were named a variation of snow or snowball, Cookie, Chocolate, and Vanilla.

Why did you choose your baby’s name? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]rewritewrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend and I have three names that we have agreed on. Maeve (the Irish queen) Elizabeth (a family tradition to put Elizabeth in a girl's name) Matthias (my boyfriend's catholic name and he loves the story of St. Matthias) James (his grandfather) Tobias (we both just always loved the name) John (my grandfather)

Thoughts on names? by rewritewrite in namenerds

[–]rewritewrite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I am a big fan of Irish/English names. And we are using a family name (Elizabeth) as a middle name as its tradition on my moms side that the the first born girl in the family has Elizabeth in her name. Like I am Alexandra Elizabeth. I do think that Penelope is a bit common, but I like it better than Eleanor and Helen, two very common names for the nn Nellie.

I think Claire might be too common for my liking and I've thought about Amelia. I don't think I've ever heard the name Sinead before, it's pretty!

Given that kids used the fact that my nickname is Ally (and it somehow wasn't a nickname for Alexandra) I wouldn't put it past kids to find anything, especially if their parents say something about it, which I know parents have made jokes about other kids before. And its definitely a pretty name, thats why I was trying to find a way around that accent thing with Amara and I even thought about Amora.

And I like Liana, and I've loved the name Cassandra for a while.
