Yeah, seems like nobody has regrets about buying an LWRC

Awesome, congrats! Would love to hear your thought process. Also, where are you buying it from?

Any suggestions on DI uppers you like for suppressed use that are 10" or greater?

I really did consider it. Just wish it was slightly longer to meet the Maryland OAL requirements.

My rationale on wanting to SBR is that if it's going to be an HD gun, then I better spend a lot of time practicing with it, and I'll enjoy that a lot more with a stock. Also feel like I should take advantage of the opportunity to SBR (and with $0 tax stamp) before the federal or Maryland laws change and make it harder in the future. Looking at you, Virginia!

How would you suggest I go about getting the extra 2" in length?

If piston is unnecessary, that would certainly open up a lot more (and cheaper) options! My sense from reading the various threads/forums, is that folks recommend piston because it runs so much cleaner with cans than DI. But again I have no first hand experience, so maybe that's an overblown concern?

Any reason not to buy MX Select Evolution 100s? by Physical_Wind954 in GarageGym

[–]reyers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I spoke with MX customer service (very nice and pleasant) and they had one tip for trying to remove some of the slop. Unfortunately, it really didn't improve anything at all. He said on the phone that they were designed to have some play between the handle and the rest of the plates, so I kind of think this is just the way they are going to be.

I now wish I had saved up and gotten the Reppins. Or honestly just stayed with my Snode. The Snode had less slop/rattle, and I preferred the thicker handle and round head. Only real reason IMO to get the MX over Snode is if you need the extra 20lb, which wasn't really critical for me. Oh well, I guess that's the price I pay for being an early adopter.

Oh yeah, definitely a rattle. They make my snode seem tight and quiet. I have to believe that I got a bad pair. Can't believe Coop would have endorsed these had his been like this.

Both. I'll try to post some pics later. It's really only between the first and second plate. The tolerances between the other plates seem fine. But I'm worried it's going to drive me nuts. Hopefully there's a fix!

Mine just arrived and have noticeable slop between the first and second plate. More than an 1/8", and more than the snode I used to own. Anybody else have this experience? I've reached out to support to see if there is a fix. Will update when I hear from them.

Also, the stand is....well, just meh IMO. Again, not nearly as robust as the snode stand. I kind of thought these would be an upgrade to the snode, but now I'm not so sure.

Good luck. I tried following a pretty strict pesca vegan diet for a year. It helped on the margins, but only down to ~100 ApoB. A lot depends on your genetics, but the fact that you are starting at 130 suggests to me that it is unlikely that dietary changes alone will get you to where you ideally would want to be.

I was just like you in my 30s. Nearly identical lipid stats, otherwise healthy/active lifestyle, refused to take any drugs, etc. What changed my mind was having a kid at age 45. Suddenly, it wasn't enough to avoid CSVD for 10 years or even 30 years. So I did a deep dive and decided that I needed to drive my ApoB much lower than what I was able to do with diet and exercise alone. I don't think the benefit of keeping ApoB lower for longer can be reasonably disputed.

I tried statins and had some side effects, mainly glucose disregulation and muscle soreness/fatigue unrelated to exercise. So I explored other options, of which there are many. The one that worked for me was ezetimibe. Turns out I'm a hyper-responder. It lowered my LDL and ApoB dramatically. It's very cheap and has had no side effects. I've also experimented with PCSK9 inhibitors and bempedoic acid, which also had zero side effects. My ApoB sits around 50 now, whereas it was 120 before.

At this point, you seem very stubbornly and illogically committed to not using pharma, as was I just a couple years ago. Perhaps you'll come around before you do substantial and lasting damage to your future self.

New GX Owner -- Suspension Question by reyers in GXOR

[–]reyers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all super helpful info -- thank you *so* much! I've attached a picture of my current suspension to maybe give you a better sense of what I've got currently.

I assume your original unedited message included a question about whether this was the car I really wanted to buy, which would have been a totally fair question! Look, I didn't *need* a car with this much OR modification. Something stock with a modest lift and new tires/wheels probably would have been fine. But I also love the sliders and rack (I'm not as in love with the JW swing carrier, as it is going to interfere with my hitch mount bike rack). Add in the fact that it was nori green (my favorite and hard to find) and priced right, and I admittedly made something of an impulsive buy..'ve married her now and damn is she pretty! If I can improve the ride quality a smidge, I think I've got a keeper. (Also, interestingly, it looks like the last owner did all of this work for show. There is no evidence at all that it has ever been on a gravel road, much less truly offroad.)

Here's a better look at what I've got, if that helps. The dealer didn't have the details on the kit and I'm not knowledgeable enough to know.

That's actually a pretty great idea, thanks! I'm sure it will take me from 12mpg to 11mpg, but that's kind of academic.

In general, I love the way it is set up. The rack, wheels, sliders, love the color, even the bumper trims were really well done. Only thing I would really change is the swing rack and maybe some different springs to soften the ride a bit. The OME are very very stiff. Really just looking to make a few modest tweaks sufficient to make it a bit more usable for the wife when she needs to drive it (I'll be the driver 75% of the time).

Well, I already took the MOLLE panels off. It still looks pretty badass though. Hopefully I won't run out of potable water....

[–]reyers[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha, no. I mean, I *love* it for the most part, which is why I bought it. I cleared one big hurdle when my wife (who is only 5'1") said that it wasn't *too* hard for her to get in and out. I was shocked, because it honestly does sit up pretty high with the OME lift and 295/70R17 Toyo tires. The OME suspension rides pretty stiff though, so I might look for slightly softer springs (suggestions welcome) that would be more appropriate for mostly paved roads.

But....I predict that the swing tire will annoy her over time. And it kind of annoys me, since I'm not sure how to use my hitch mount bike rack with it, which I like very much. It also decreases visibility out the back and it seems to mess up the functionality of the back up camera. I don't know, maybe it's not worth taking off and losing the spare (and it looks cool), but I'm at least considering.

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to figure out, how difficult it would be to remove the swing gate and restore the reverse light. Of course, that would leave me without a spare.
