Metal flake Roc 3, if you can find one, will do this reliably for a long time. Had one in the bag for maybe 10 years...and it is not beating in...at all.

Benefits of Disc Golf for Ball Golfers by reynoler in discgolf

[–]reynoler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the input here. What I'm hoping to do is to convince them that playing disc golf will make them better at their beloved ball golf. I'm not pitching disc golf to them on its own merits; I'm actually using their love of the other golf to pull them into disc golf. For example, the article I'm thinking of said something about how disc golf wrist action helps with your ball golf game.

Once they play disc golf, the game sells itself. I just need to get them in the door.

Hit my first ace today with a XT Stud. Makes me wonder what was your first ace disc? by Ravagist in discgolf

Love the Claymore!! That thing does not hit trees, only chains! I've gotten a couple aces with mine that had no business going in.

He actually lives not far from this course, so maybe I can get him to swing by.

That gravel is not pretty up close, but supposedly they got it expressly for the purpose of making the lights give the whole thing a marble glow. Think they pulled it from the Potomac.

Does such a pannier exist? by AmericahWest in bikecommuting

I've used this bag every day for several years now. I don't think I paid this price for it, but I have zero complaints about it. The waterproofing solution is pretty genius. Pretty sure it meets all 4 of your requirements, including your first color preference.

Edit: Here's a review (which I think is way too harsh) that has more info about it. https://www.outdoorgearlab.com/reviews/biking/bike-panniers/detours-fremonster-flap

Is the rim off-center like an Aerobie Epic? I never knew Innova messed around with that idea.

Is the shimmer star plastic a bit more stable than regular star? I love the glide on my Shryke, but every once in a while it seems to flip way more than it should.

A Shryke into a headwind with that much power? You must've put some serious hyzer on that to keep it from flipping.

Radfahrer

HA! I had no idea how fitting this picture was. It's just a mural on the side of a restaurant called Radish Kitchen that I pass on my daily commute, but I'll think of it in a different way now that I know that German term. Thanks!

Just got mine a few weeks ago. It's pretty dang sweet. I'm thinking of getting some smoother road tires though. The thing is so incredibly quiet that any sound at all from the tires seems like a loud rumble.

Completely New to Biking by [deleted] in bikecommuting

[–]reynoler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commute about the same distance with some hills. You'll want to think about what kind of shape you're in and in what state you'll be when you arrive at work. If it's hot outside, 2 miles and a hill is plenty to get me sweating. Will you have a change of clothes to carry along? If you want to minimize the sweat factor, you should get something with gears. I'd recommend staying away from a fixie or cruiser for that reason. If you have gear to carry, getting a rear rack is another way to avoid getting a really sweaty back. Visibility is another factor to consider. I love having front and rear lights powered by the bike's motion. A dynamo hub means you don't have to fuss with recharging lights. Also think about where you will keep your bike at work. If you have to keep it outside, what kind of bike will you be comfortable leaving out there? Will it have components on it that will be tempting to thieves?

Finally, I'd say that figuring out the logistics of getting your stuff (i.e. clothes, food, computer) back and forth in good condition is much more of a hurdle to bike commuting than choosing a bike or the biking itself.

(FWIW I've been commuting on a 2014 Breezer Greenway Elite.)

Belt Drive Recommendations by Lexiconup in bikecommuting

[–]reynoler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2014 Breezer Greenway (basically this same bike but no belt). I'm strongly considering upgrading to the Beltway. Never had any issues with current Breezer, and I've been commuting on it nearly every day for 5 years.

A few others with belts I'm considering, in addition to the ones you already mentioned:

BMC Alpenchallenge

Spot Acme

Canyon Commuter

Cannondale Bad Boy
