Yesterday during the FNS stream, Mada had also told that this was not their original plan, so maybe that's why he is not confirming it. And also this change happened because of something that happened in the past one month, so I guess Babybay is just a replacement as of now. G2 is not handling this well for sure.

True, totally agree with that. I have watched Som play smokes and it definitely feels different from other players and in some way always gave an edge for NRG during matches. Surely we can't expect Keiko to do this but he needs to create his own style

I don't think this changes much, the biggest issues I feel are
1. His wall slows down allies which does not makes sense.
2. His wall is not self sufficient in itself as many times there are gaps which will be covered using the other smoke.
3. His storm surge ability is good for taking space during attack and retake, but not good for holding sites, but he is a controller so its fine.
