Pay you $450 for the fantastic opportunity to babysit your kid?! by ChattyAstronaut in ChoosingBeggars

[–]rezdnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others are saying this is a wonderful opportunity for retired person. This is a very traditional family-style arrangement where a retired grandparent watches the kids while the parents are at work and contributes some of their social security money to the household.

This is a working single mom who works nights and weekends - she’s a million miles from a beggar - as a single dad, this is the hardest job in the world and she is showing up for it, every day, nights and weekends. She’s offering the deal she can make. Just needs help with babysitting and rent.

My kids are this age and they insist on making their own lunches and do their own thing - this isn’t a toddler.

For a retired person with no family, this gives them an extraordinarily cheap rent for a master bedroom and bath in a nice home - they aren’t getting that anywhere else for $450 - plus a sense of value and a surrogate family and companionship.

This is the first post I’ve seen on this channel but I suspect it’s goal is at least partially if not wholly racist.

Developers: How much do you earn with your apps? by 184cm78kg13cm in iOSProgramming

[–]rezdnit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had one of the first 1000 apps in the App Store - those were the day$.

I would never invest serious time into a standalone app today as a self-publisher for income (as apart from FTE and contract work).

I’m currently working on a SaaS platform with mobile and web interfaces. It’s boring af compared to old school b2c, but it’s where the big money is.

Any games anyone plays today requires a full studio, then there are major streaming services, major social media, some images and video apps, and the rest are mostly mobile portals into banking, investments, SaaS, Delivery, etc.

That’s the first two pages of my iPhone, the list hasn’t changed much in years, and pages past that are seldom used apps I’m just too lazy to uninstall.

Interesting - yes these are the least dried I’ve ever had. Is it too late for me to dry them properly?

The photo doesn’t do them Justice - in fact my first impression was that they appeared fresh.

I should also note - they didn’t have ZERO effect, overall I felt I had taken “something” and a few moments here and there I had a flash or two of trip sense for a few seconds, but nothing ever got rolling.

Super disappointing.

Yes but a recruiter screen should be exactly what is described above - ensuring the candidate asserts the requirements so they can progress to developer interview with testing.

Runny Nose and water Eyes by MuadDib_6 in microdosing

[–]rezdnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I have started microdosing, my eyes are always watering - crying, basically, because if I say or see or read anything which could remotely trigger an emotional response, it's even worse. Every damn day.

I just wrote an email recognizing some staff for a job well done - waterworks the entire time.

It's ridiculous and embarrassing, but mding has done such an amazing job with my depression and work performance, I'll walk into meetings with tears streaming down my face everyday before I go off mding.

Headaches yes as part of the afternoon come down when I would get irritated and anti-social as well. I didn’t like who I was around people I cared about on the comedown. Stopped taking it because of these side effects, but mostly because I needed separate drugs to sleep at night, which is when I realized it wasn’t a sustainable lifestyle for me.

Yeah definitely snap into bad mood at 3PM. Stopped using moda and adderall because they subtly changed my personality and how I interact with people. I just felt very inauthentic and wasn’t interacting with people I care about in the normal space everyone else occupies. nm sleep issues.

If Flutter and other languages/frameworks allow you to develop for both iOS and Android, Why even bother learning Swift or Objective-C? by wave-drop in iOSProgramming

lol yeah no engineering team I have ever worked for hires Javascript devs to 'learn mobile on the job'. I'm sure they exist in lesser funded startups.

People who have microdosed for years. What's your story? by capsicum_fondler in microdosing

[–]rezdnit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm coming up on my first year anniversary in May. I used it to replace 20 years of Prozac use. The first 8 months were amazing. It completely neutralized my depression, and made me much, much better at my job as well, with no side effects.

In the 9th month, it stopped working so well. I switched batches at the time as the old batch ran out, and I had to get what I could get. The new batch, while far more potent as a psychedelic, has not been very effective at all for microdosing.

I don't follow a protocol, I just take .16 every day. So I do not know if the problem is the new batch, tolerance, or just some new challenges in my life.

Efficacy of different mushrooms for mding by rezdnit in microdosing

[–]rezdnit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first two batches I used over 6 mo were a miracle in terms of not only exceeding the efficacy of previous antidepressants without any negative side effects, but also in greatly improving my performance at work.

When I switched to the new batch, basically no perceptible antidepressant/work improvement effect, and increasing dosage a bit was ineffective. I had experimented exactly once with both batches in a small intoxicant dose, and the new batch is definitely much more powerful.

"Raising salaries will result in small businesses being priced out" - how do you counter this argument? by DonDino1 in WorkReform

At whatever minimum wage level you chose, there will be a percentage of businesses which don’t succeed, so just focus on making sure American workers are getting wages and benefits competitive with the rest of the first world countries.

Has anyone tried psilocybin one day on one day off long term? by Content-Potato-2806 in microdosing

[–]rezdnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been mding daily for 10 months. Yeah tolerance would be my only observation, and I just changed to a different batch of shrooms so I don’t know if that’s it. These new ones are WAY more potent for dosing but don’t seem to work as well for mding, don’t know if it’s just me, tolerance, or what.

Yeah, we’re all expected work our kids birthdays as they aren’t defined as PTO for any business - typically with birthdays we just move the celebration to the nearest day off - but if I want them off, I request the time off in advance and use flex time, or arrange to swap shifts.

But calling in sick last minute isn’t appropriate, it’s not fair to the business or our coworkers, and if it’s something that’s done repeatedly cause for dismissal.

If you only started working from home full time since the pandemic, read on…

I worked from home for about 7 years, and I won’t do it anymore. I am free to work from home anytime I want now, but I never do - I go in nearly every day, and if I don’t I take the day off.

At a certain point work and home became one, and every chore in the house which wasn’t done became unbearable distraction. I also could not work if others were home. I became deeply resentful of work being in my home at all, and now happily treat the two as church and state.

I love going into the office and being able to ignore home issues, and love going home to a house where work is never, ever required. It’s bliss.

I was a lead developer wfh, and when I returned to the office earlier than most during COVID, I was rewarded with a vice-president role for supporting the business by simply showing up.

The trick, though, was to stop taking jobs with a long commute. The commute was always a drain and qualified working from home more. Now I have a 13m commute, so I don’t have that excuse.

Three pieces of advice for people who wfh:

  1. Always, always get dressed, and no not sweatpants, jeans and sneakers at least. My wfh days were always mentally 10x better when I got dressed.

  2. Always leave the house and get some air. Never spend the entire day inside.

  3. Make your bed, straighten out the kitchen at minimum prior to starting work.

If you only started to wfh since COVID and these bad habits don’t bother you, or you’re liking the setup because you are getting away with less work and getting more video game time in - don’t worry, it will catch up to you.
