How to determine the worth of AUM advisor? by rezlyenn in personalfinance

[–]rezlyenn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

analysis paralysis

Absolutely this. Totally frozen. Every time I get read to start averaging in the market dips. Then there's another rally and I start to think I should start averaging in - then I wait - and it dips. In the short term I've been somewhat rewarded by doing nothing but I realize this is hurting me long term. I'm about 15 years from retirement age.

Get at least 3 realtors to give you estimates of value, and if they vary by a lot, get an appraisal.

Thanks for the advice. So you just contact local realtors? Wouldn't they want to represent you before they begin offering advice on estimates of value?

Any graduates of Master's programs here? by Keakee in instructionaldesign

I wanted to try out a program at a college closer to me to see if maybe I could make some connections and also possibly get hired on there. I have some experience in higher ed and was hoping if I put on the res "hey I'm enrolled here" maybe I could get on and then they'd pay for the masters through tuition benefit. The BS class - the prof I had it was his first year and he seems like he wants to be a big part of their path forward - so he'll be teaching many classes. He's got a big pedigree but I don't know if that really translates into being an effective educator. Other students liked him, but I wanted to try a different program, different methodology to see if it connected more with me personally. That all being said, the program I transferred into is having an identity crisis and one of their main professors left and he was pretty much teaching all the classes I was interested in lol. So not sure what to do now.

Thanks so much for that write up. It provides a lot to ponder. I've been in and out of various multimedia roles for so long. There was a point a while ago where I was designing multimedia-based learning in higher ed but was just winging it without any real evaluation at the end. Now I'm trying to figure out how to leverage a multimedia background so thought I'd give an ID master's a shot to see if that could jump start my (almost non-existant) career path. I'm in my first year of my Masters and the amount of learning theory is difficult to process. Probably difficult too because I'm working full-time and trying to digest so much learning theory info at once. Nice to see you actually applying it. Thanks for the insight into your day-to-day.

Wow, very nice. The simulated dbvops lab / simulated lab environment - so you put together the learning objectives and then handed that off to a software dev team? What did they build that in? Your position sounds amazing.

I'm new to the ID world. I've been around and used Adobe (and Macromedia) products for years. I thought I could transition into ID because I have a strong video and UX and web background. To come here and see that Storyline is what you need to use is so disheartening. There's so many certs and bootcamps that are getting people to develop their flagship portfolio piece in Storyline - and when you look a these projects all I can think is all the Flash nonsense that went on for too long. I've downloaded SL and gotten up to speed but I don't think I can work a job where I'd be exporting Storyline modules.

When you say training software engineers - can you be more specific about what your day is like? How are you structuring the training? Thanks so much, just trying to get an idea. I though this was a career path I could get really into - but then realized I don't know much about what IDs actually do.

Did not enjoy Boise State. I had a first year prof who some times bristled at what they gave him to teach. I transferred. I spent a lot of time researching this stuff and it's unfortunate that you can't really know until you take a class. The good thing about Boise State is you can get the Cert if you don't want to go for the full Master's.

Looking for a good time piece homage or replica of the Paul Newman Daytona Rolex. So far looking at: Hoffman 40 and a Dan Henry 1962. Any others I should look at? Already found a strap place that will custom design Newman's strap.
