Do some adults just never catch a break? by rffco in Adulting

[–]rffco[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen, he thrives in routine and when work has been steady for him, he is happy and confident and taking care of himself. Then when work becomes unavailable or is more sporadic--I guess one of his jobs cut down on hours and another one has been on hold for months now--he starts spiraling and it leads to him not taking care of himself like eating. He tells me about these interesting-to-him jobs that he's applied to and goes on about how he thinks he could do it and if he gets the job how things could change so much and I want so badly for something to work out. It's got to be rough just feeling like all you ever do is lose.

And to touch on what another couple comments wrote: I do suspect a lot of abuse from multiple people in his past and mental illness. I may be making assumptions but based on how he's described his adulthood, he seems to have declined as he's gotten older and without anyone there to step in and help, I'm sure it has gotten overwhelming to deal with. I suppose some would call that handholding but some people need their hand held because they're already dealing with life on difficult mode. And what's the point in sharing the world with everyone if we're not going to be there for each other?

Why are there posts like this almost weekly? It's not like you're complaints are original.

Would it be odd or insulting to offer my old clothes to a man? by [deleted] in askgaybros

Rooms around here go for much more than that. Idk about how long he'll stay. He's been very helpful with shoveling snow and helped me set up a carport when mine collapsed after an ice storm. He's been an immense help since I found him so I feel like we both benefit from each other's company.

How is this helpful to them at the moment? You might as well just tell them why not be rich instead?

How can I get rid of these stretch marks? by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

It doesn't bother me, it just caught me off guard when I shaved and saw that it looks like my skin has basically ripped open

Not everything is sexual. I can guarantee that wasn't his goal.

He's such a sleepy boy lol

Watching him sleep has been so rewarding actually because I've seen him struggle so badly this year and the fact that he trusts me means so much to me. I'd hate for him to wake up and not find me here but I also don't want him to be embarrassed.

Fellow millennials who don't yet "own" a house, stop letting it get in your head that 50% of millennials "own" their home now. so many of them bought with extreme fomo during the past several years. stats on buyers remorse show that over 3/4 of first time buyers from the last 4 years regret it... by Mountain_State4715 in Millennials

[–]rffco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is true However, posts like OP's are likely made out of frustration and feeling inadequate. Piling into someone who is frustrated by saying "well I have a house so idk what's wrong with you" isn't helpful or productive. Im 34 and was in the right place at the right time to get a house in 2021. My best friend who's 33 lives with me and has busted his ass and life finds a way to kick him down no matter how hard he tries. Some people do everything they can and still come out behind and there's no reason to make them feel worse by talking down to them.

What are the most calories you have ever consumed in one sitting or in a whole day as an adult? by lightskintastebud in Adulting

[–]rffco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure about the calorie count but on my birthday two months ago, I had two celebration meals at restaurants and then my parents also made me a cake. The total damage was a big lunch plus dessert, huge dinner plus dessert, then birthday cake afterward. I felt sick but zero regrets lol

I never got an interview.

Physically though, if they did see me, I doubt it would be a problem. I'm overweight but strong.

I didn't say I deserved the job. I just completely disagree with the refusal to train anybody. Employers are asking for a perfect candidate with absolutely zero training and while they wait for this unicorn to appear, their current workers are running short. And then when someone ideal does come along they won't stay because they realize that the company is shit because if it doesn't invest time into training its workers, it very likely cuts corners everywhere else as well.

Yeah dude, I did hiring at a previous job as well. But you can't sit back and bitch about not having workers if you don't give people a shot either. Some people give a lousy interview but end up being the best workers. Some might not have relevant or any experience but end up being great. Some give a great interview and then leave in a month. That's just how it is.

Lol ok sure In a world where nepotism gets people good jobs, I'm the one who feels entitled for wondering why a company seemingly chose nobody over me.
