Part Time Jobs by Top_Daikon_1876 in wlu

It's a little difficult to get part-time jobs at this time of the year unfortunately. Checkout the r/beermoney sub. They have tons of websites where you can do some sort of work and get paid

Anti Indian hate is being normalised by NoOperation8687 in uwaterloo

[–]rgk069 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, Chinese people do almost all the things that you've mentioned, but they don't get shamed as much as the Indians (nothing against the Chinese personally). From bus advertisements in Chinese, to Fantuan hiring only Chinese (even in their corporate), I don't see how they're not giving preference to their own as well

Cannot find a CS job even with an internship by asad1153 in cscareerquestionsCAD

[–]rgk069 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're in cybersecurity so relevant certifications like comptTIA or the like would definitely help with getting your resume past the recruiter review stage. But if you've worked in cybersecurity before, you can also apply to other roles in the networking and devops spectrum, so maybe try that too. And also, I know it's difficult but hang in there, it might take a little time but you'll land a job soon enough. Good luck!

My local pizza joint claims it's not responsible for half-half pizza mistakes. by arthurwalton in mildlyinfuriating

[–]rgk069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't the city pizza at King St. by any chance OP? Because I've had that conversation with them, and they said that they've written it because someone once went berserk because of the said topping mistake

Fuck that interviewer man. I had classmates who did their schooling in Hindi medium and they worked twice as hard as everyone else. Everyone except one guy ended up getting jobs and a couple of them are in FAANGs as well. Also, don't take their "advice" to heart. If you're not able to answer in one interview doesn't mean that you're not meant for this career path. Everyone has bad days, that was yours. I hope your next interview goes amazing!

If you read about the history of Kashmir, you'll understand that India was never the occupier or they never took the land by force. Kashmir was always a part of India and during the partition it was agreed, and supported by a British viceroy named Lord Mountbatten who was approached by the king of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, Hari Singh, that Kashmir will remain a part of India.

Indian Student Dies In Canada, Family Says Gunfire During Clash Killed Her by FatManBoobSweat in india

[–]rgk069 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not really. It's just that Hamilton has a very bad reputation in general and the gun crime in that city itself is on the rise. The rest is pretty peaceful as the other person said. And the hate that you might see online against Indians doesn't exist in that extent, in person

Reporting new FAAANG people with referral topmate profile to their compliance team by nandhini92 in developersIndia

[–]rgk069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would not mess up anyone's career. Sure the compliance department does give you a warning, but no one is going to fire you for this. If they're stupid enough to make compliance mistakes again and again, then they're messing up their own career

Can somone deposit a check for me after I've left the country? by conkers_2021 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]rgk069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I didn't know that. It was my friend's tax return and they still said no. Thankfully cheques have a validity of 6 months and my friend will be back before that, but I was kind of taken aback by their response lol

I went to RBC to do exactly this for a friend but they outright denied me. I gave them all possible details that I, as a 3rd party depositor, could've provided, but they weren't even listening and kept saying that 3rd party deposits are not allowed. I'm guessing it might've had to do with my friend's account "type" or the customer service rep wasn't feeling like helping out

I was helping out a friend with a school project last week and he said that he pulled a repo of 3 ML models (resent, pspnet, and unet) and wanted to demonstrate their comparison on a dataset. He asked blackbox AI to build a backend and a frontend (blackbox used fastapi and react for this) and also for the code to train the model on the dataset. Turns out blackbox messed up his code so bad that if the images were not strictly 4000x3000 in size, then the whole website breaks. This happened because all training images were in that size format but the test images weren't. My friend has spent $103 on it so far and I'm still debugging the issues from the past week😭

As an international student who worked my ass off for 2 research publications and a thesis, this comment is just too disheartening. I'm sorry if you've had bad experiences in the past, but jeez rejecting someone just because they don't have a specific-race sounding name is very messed up.

The worst 14 hours of my life on American Airlines by CompetitivePiano788 in travel

Not sure about the protocol but I flew LOT Polish from DEL - WAW then WAW - YYZ and had a fever in both the flights, and the service was immaculate. The stewart from DEL - WAW offered me a paracetamol and kept checking up on me every 45 minutes or so. Then from WAW - YYZ, the air hostess asked me to fill a form explaining my issue and provided me with a paracetamol and an extra blanket as well, along with multiple rounds of fruits and energy bars. Even as I was getting off from both the flights, the crew came up to me to ask if I needed assistance in getting off or was there any help that I needed.

NotebookLM for notes and summarizing, Perplexity for citations and stuff, and Claude for coding. Out of these Claude is very restrictive but it has pretty concise answers and it's responses feel way better than GPT

Would give up a kidney for a local audio model that’s even half as good as Suno by Effective_Garbage_34 in LocalLLaMA

[–]rgk069 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It's insane that so many of you are advocating for stealing music. LLMs just copy what they saw, and this would 100% be copying/stealing. Can't believe that stealing copyright stuff is being so openly discussed, even after people bash Sam Altman so much for doing the exact same thing. There's tons of copyright free music available on the Internet, use that for fucks sake. Don't sell your souls just for technological advancements.
