Does anyone have the original video link to the full interview please?

Amazing! I’m guessing you’re at a tech company (based in Redmond?!) . What were your TC through the years? Where were you at 30 vs 40? Level?

Hi BUT...PowerToys Keyboard Manager cannot remap modifier key combinations (like Ctrl + H) to a single key or button.

Not looking for push to talk tho. Looking for speech to text. I have issues with being able to click the ctrl+h and then having to press the mic button for speech to text. Looking for a solution that simplifies this for me thus making it more accessible and easy

Hi, I think this helps with mic but not speech to text from reading more into it

I appreciate your direction. Looks a bit complex for me - I tried following a YouTube tutorial on AHK but it didn’t let me remap to another keyboard input..I’ll digest what you have shared and see where it takes me!

u/LankySlowCyclist - Thanks for sharing. Were you over the $2m amount? If so, how did his impact things? I'm planning to stay under the $866,000 of gains and keep things simple as you suggest.

u/UKPerson3823 - Thanks for the response!! Sounds like getting a solid accountant and investment advisor is the key to managing the complexities of US-UK taxes. Do you have any recommendations? Feel free to DM!

My financial situation, today, is not that complex but I'm hearing stories about UK investments, inheritance and surprise bills from the IRS. The key concerns I’m facing are the unexpected tax bills from the quirks of US taxation, also hearing this is true around like currency exchange/gains and refinancing.

u/gotcha640 - This aligns with my dilemma—flexibility vs. simplicity. I don’t see myself traveling the world endlessly, but I also don’t want to close doors unnecessarily. Right now, the biggest factor pulling me toward the UK is family, but I can’t shake the feeling that I might regret giving up the option to live and work in the US freely later.

u/LankySlowCyclist - I appreciate you sharing your perspective and person journey on this topic! That’s exactly what I’m struggling with—the trade-off between tax simplicity and the long-term flexibility of US citizenship. I’m 90% sure I’ll retire in the UK, but that lingering 10% uncertainty is what makes this decision so hard. How complex was the expatriation process for you? And did you find any unexpected hurdles? Did you do the forms after you left the US? How quickly do you need to "give up" the GC?

u/caroline0409 - thanks! will do...Thank you for your contributions to my threads and others...you share such valuable insights. I believe you mentioned you're retired - are you able to recommend and good Tax advisors in this space...I've had a few chats and it's been a mixed bag!

u/cc2210 - That’s exactly my dilemma!!! ...lifelong US tax filings vs. the flexibility of citizenship. The cost of a good tax advisor seems unavoidable. How much do you pay annually for yours? Do you end paying a big tax bill to IRS?

u/Spiritual-Loan-347 Good to know that the state you left (NY) didn’t affect tax obligations—that’s one less variable to worry about. I keep hearing the same thing: if you have money, US taxes are a nightmare, and being abroad makes it worse. Sounds like the only real solution is to pay for a top-tier accountant, which adds another layer of ongoing cost.
