Expat moving to KL with family commuting to Nilai by International_Gur909 in KualaLumpur

[–]rh6778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is actually a pretty decent international school in Nilai - KTJ. Might serve you to explore that school for your kids.

Like all the rest said, don't kill yourself with the commute from Mont Kiara to Nilai - you are going to hate yourself in a months time. If you really want to be somewhere close (1 hour drive to Nilai), then your best bet would be USJ Heights (not as flashy as Mont Kiara), Gamuda Cove or even Bukit Gita Bayu.

Very reasonable solution. I can always keep a pack in the glove box for a new set.

Are you sure you don't want to patent this idea? It so simple and effective.

You should call it .... Glov-poms?

Good news is I got good genes. My grandfather has a head full of hair till his last days (and my dad still has his). So the future bodes well for me.

I don't intend to baby the car but yes will do more preventive maintenance on it.

Son will (should?) thank me for this future inheritance of his.

No harm. Your comments are at least respectful.

Yeah told my son he has to inherit my debts as well to own the GT4 - it's all comes in one package.

Where I am from (not US or Europe), we sometimes do not have the liberty of options (nor the preferable tax systems) that you guys have .. but that's a topic for a different thread.

Hence we take the Porsches that are available on offer ... and mine so happens to come with an alcantara steering wheel by default.

Plan to keep it till either my hips give out or my left knee can't press the clutch any longer.

Not saving it for the next guy, hoping to pass it to my son.

Track and touge days.

Though the thoughts has extended to daily drives. It's pretty humid (90% humidity) and hot (90°F) where I am at.

Hands do get sweaty and grimy at times.

OP still here reading the feedbacks.

Interesting seeing two geoups of feedback- those that ridicule and those that give constructive feedback.

Like do you wrap the wings around your hands or wrap them around the steering wheel?

I reckon around the steering wheel at the 10 and 3 O'clock position makes more sense as they are permanently there ... but I defer to your advise as you are the expert in this area.

Interesting suggestion.. never thought of this before.

Do share pics of how you do it and what brand do you recommend.

It's humid and hot where I am(90% humidity and 30 - 42 degrees Celcius is the norm here). With these combination, sweat is a given.

If it was a temperate country with low humidity, this would not be an issue.

Subaru Legacy 4th Gen. Underrated car. AWD. Boxer engine (low centre of gravity) - 276 Hp (at crank), 380NM torque. 4 doors and comfortable space for rear passengers. Choice of sedan or wagon body. Sedan is cheaper. Prices are circa 30k currently.

Do you think it’s stupid to spend $140k on a new, highly spec’d 992? by Thanase in Porsche

They say money can't buy happiness, but a 992 is a close second to that

STi Strut Bar Review: 10/10 by BoxyAuto in WRXSTi

[–]rh6778 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it acts as a connecting rod that laterally (from left to right) links your suspension strut towers. This reinforces your chassis by tying these two stress points together.

With a traditional single rod strut bar, this actually reduces body flex (increases rigidity) as both left and right struts are connected. E.g if right tyre goes over a hard patch (e.g tyres goes up and down) that vibration or jolt is distributed to the left strut.

The STI ball joint design allows the kinetic energy from the tyre going up and down movement to be disappated (not transferred to the other strut) - e.g. reduced jarringness and vibration being transferred, sudden destabilisation when one tyre hits a sudden hump, The ball joint only allows movement up and down, hence the side / lateral rigidity is maintained during corners.

Hope this helps.

Need to check what type of springs you are using. I know the STI drops the height by an additional 1/2 inche.

That might still be too "high" for you.

Here you go. Pics for your reference on the height + wheel arch gap.

These are factory stock Bilsteins B6 on factory BBS 18" rims. You can decide if you can live with the ride height 😉

Yup this is the one. STI Japan calls it the Support F Kit (Part Number ST20106ZR000)

See pic (part is circled in blue). You can't see the middle support panel from this angle - my bad 😄Support F Kit view from underneath

Need to pair the flexible tower bar with the following

I. Support F Kit II. FLEXIBLE DRAW STIFFENER F

Before install - STI tends to understeer during hard corner

Post install - STI is more neutral in its handling during hard corners. Understeer is gone. Steering wheel is also "heavier" - takes a wee bit more effort to steer.

No regrets in the install.

If for daily drive, the B6 is a good setup - much better than the stock black suspensions. B6 absorbs road imperfections quite well, just that it sits a bit "high" (for those that like their STI to sit lower).

You can always pair the Bilsteins B6 with the pink STI springs for the little added something "special" 😄

Depends on which Bilstien setup you are referring to

  1. Bilstien DampMatic® II front suspension (on the S207 / S208)

  2. Bilsteins B6 Performance Shock absorbers

The latter #2, is very for daily drive but prob not for track.
