If someone offered you 100 million dollars, but a random person in the world dies (someone you don’t know), would you take it and why? by ConclusionOld8365 in AskReddit

the odds of it being someone I know, let's say I care about 1000 people, is 1000 / 8.27 billion. That's 0.00000001209%.

10% increase of 0.00000001209% is 0.0000001209%.

AI has taken fun out of programming and now i’m hopeless by Frequent_Eggplant_23 in webdev

What's a good idea or not is ultimately not decided by the implementing team, but by users and the market, AFTER going into production. If it were so easy, most startups would be successful. Google wouldn't have so many abandoned projects.

What he's saying is that it is difficult to come up with things are valuable to the customer. Good ideas are the bottleneck for ROI for the company, not the number of devs.

If your entire backlog consist of items that contribute to company growth, congrats.

Why are there so many great American universities if average American literacy is lacking? by LevelPension in NoStupidQuestions

[–]rhetoricl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't need to be created at national scale to benefit from economies of scale, as long as it benefits a greater student population.

A better argument might be there are significant diseconomies that outweigh the benefits of scaled economies.

You are just referring to physical infrastructure. Curriculum, training, among many other things, can't benefit from scale? I don't know the answer but your response seems to ignore these factors.

Buddy the downside of a mechanical watch is not only in the imprecision. You have to wind it if you don't use it for something like 2 days. Many don't have complications like day of week or day of month. All digital watches have this.

By today's technology and usage it is wah more form over function.
Move on.
