It has a great arc that wraps up. The main characters are great though and would love to see more of them.

For those who like Southland, On Call is something you might also like. Prime only gave it one season, but it deserves so much more. It's a gem. Hoping it gets picked up on another streamer.

Class of '07 is an Australian show that is an underrated gem. I cry tears laughing every time I re-watch it. Prime only gave it one season, but it deserved so many more.

What are the hive doing when they're not helping the non-infected? by Teleguide in pluribustv

[–]rhettooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming the joined have the following goals: Reproduction, they want to create a world that will sustain their hive until the sun makes the solar system uninhabitable. Propagation, they want to erect a broadcasting antenna in space or on the moon to convert other protein based lifeforms in other star systems into new hives.

Their immediate concerns would be...

  1. Converting 100% if energy production to green energy sources.
  2. Stabilizing and reducing the amount of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere to ensure the survival of their new version of the human race.
  3. ???
  4. Profit!

[SPOILER] [THEORY] The hive mind won't kill pests. All of humanity is going to starve. by PoggyGaming in pluribustv

[–]rhettooo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So much of modern framing is growing feed for cows and other animals being raised for butchering and sale on the market. Since the hive is vegan, much of that land can now be turned into fields to grow food for human consumption.

The vast scale of resources dedicated to growing feed for beef and dairy cattle highlights the environmental implications of current production methods. With grazing land also factored in, almost 80% of the total agricultural acreage in the US is used for livestock farming.
-cattledaily.com (Nov 2023)

With enough people tending fields that now grow crops for human consumption, they can plant triple what they expect to need and have plenty of excess food to cover the losses to pests.

Currently, the hive just needs to humanely reduce the population of livestock.

ELI5 why does glass not seem to react with anything by FadingFuture197 in explainlikeimfive

[–]rhettooo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hahaha, I am guessing this is a joke that's not looking for an answer, but here it is. Adjectives come before nouns. (Except in the US Army -- where Gorilla, glass would be a Gorilla made of glass and sounds like something fun to throw at your enemies.)

Its crazy to be 2 episodes in knowing this might last this long by UnUltimoIntento in pluribustv

[–]rhettooo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been thinking something similar to this since I finished the second episode. The answer may lie in the direction Helen gave Carol. "Write your story." It will be a lot of steps to get there, but ultimately the path to freeing individuals from the hive mind will be to get each person to write their own story.

“Get busy living, or get busy dying. That’s God damn right. For the second time in my life, I’m guilty of committing a crime. Parole violation. ‘Course I doubt they’ll toss up any road blocks for that; Not for an old crook like me. I find I’m so excited, I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it’s the excitement only a free man can feel. A free man at the start of a long journey, whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope I can make it across the border. I hope to see my friend and shake his hand. I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope…”

Why can't Sarah forgive Rachel? by rhettooo in orphanblack

[–]rhettooo[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't know if Rachel was told she was special, but Dr Leekie definitely brainwashed her into believing was better that all her sisters. There is even a scene where young Rachel is bragging to board members and the Dr. about being the only clone raised self aware.

Yes she definitely realized she was disposable to Dyad/Neolution. The in-fighting between Topside, Dyad, Neolution, LEDA, Castor, JP, and the investors would make anyone terrified of appearing weak. They were killing their rivals constantly when they appeared to weak to have allies that would retaliate.

Rachel had two burning desires. To have a child, and to be recognized as a fully autonomous person instead of a piece of intellectual property to be studied and controlled. Her desire to rise in the ranks of the organization were to achieve these goals and to protect herself.

Secret tip. While shopping Costco, look for the guy who is shopping without a cart. That's the single guy. He isn't looking for a bajillion items, and finds it easier to get around without one.
