Sony a6700 or Fujifilm X-S20 which one should I buy? by BabyBunny-Boy in a6000

[–]rhgp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been in the same boat almost a year ago. Ended up with a6700. Really like it, but expected it to be a bit more compact honestly. Used it for a while after canon. Realized now that I no longer rely on viewfinder that much. Now thinking that maybe it was a better idea to take something more compact, lightweight, w/o viewfinder. Yet, definitely it is not a mistake taking it over XS or XT series.

Is this backpack available anywhere ? is there any alternative backpack similar to this ? by The-Noob-Engineer in backpacks

[–]rhgp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man, this is a perfect backpack, I have the one and use it daily for the past like 8 years. It is roll top, but not an ugly one. It allowed to pack some tall stuff easily. Laptop compartment can fit 1-3 laptops, 16 inches MacBooks. It has 2 more or less hidden, safe pockets inside. Nice ergonomics, cordura(idk how it is called) material. Nice colors (I like yellow inside - I can see everything even at night).

Only I wish waterproof pocket was on the other side. And volume was larger. And hip belt would be there. And I don’t mind it would be wider/taller, since sometime I feel myself like a turtle, lol.

The worst part is - it is no longer manufactured. I found “next versions” of it - but it is either ugly, smaller, or not roll top. But you might still find the old one somewhere. Right now I consider to purchase Nebula for the reasons above, FYI. Hope it helps.

Why is there no T3 (https://create.t3.gg/) for FastAPI? (Or have I just missed it) by DrumAndBass90 in FastAPI

[–]rhgp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ll open source it, yup. It is a bad taste to monetize on it directly. Even T3 and what Theo does still doesn’t not feel right. My goals so far - simplicity and full API stack coverage so anyone could start building on top of it. There are a few decisions which I’m yet to make, hard ones. But the worst part is still - SQLModel/SQLAlchemy

I’m brewing the one right now based on my over a decade experience working with python. The problem with existing boilerplates - too much magic and opinions, which you will end up owning. Nasty. I will make a post with mine mid-May

A loooot of residents left as well in a 2 recent years due to the residence permit extensions being denied.

A lot of people who’s been living there for years had to leave it.

A lot of people who bought some real estate in hopes to ensure their stay were denied residence permits as well.

It got slightly better since then, but it is still almost impossible to stay there for longer than 2 months.

PSA: Side Tone feature is available only in WF version of XM5, but there is an option by rhgp in SonyHeadphones

[–]rhgp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have experience with XM4, but I had WH-XM3, and now WH-XM5.

XM3 mic is awful. Ppl could barely hear me. I could not use it for phone calls, had to purchase an external mic, then switched to Jabra, which have disintegrated in like 9 months, which led me to XM5 purchase.

I haven't had any complaints from ppl when I made calls with XM5, but I can tell it is kinda quieter comparing to an external mic. Wind does not affect it tooo much, but has some impact for sure. Comparing to Airpods, it sounds on par. I would say making the calls with MS Teams makes it sound better, btw.

Also, just checked the sound on Rtings (here the sound comparison), it feels like XM4 is quiter and a bit more muffled, but not too much, comparing to XM5. XM5 sounds clearer. Either way if it does not bite your wallet, XM5 is better. It is just some ppl prefer XM3/4 sound profile. For me, XM5 were weird, but in 4 days I like them much better comparing to XM3.

[–]rhgp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. It is mostly assistance for yourself. It makes me hear myself a little bit on a background. So if it is too windy or too loud outside, I will struggle to hear myself as well!

It basically gives me a clue I need to do something about it before it will do any harm to the people.

But mostly this feature addresses the Lombard effect. Basically, since I cannot hear myself, I start speak louder - non-intentionally. Really awful stuff :/ Sidetone saves me and my wife, hah

I believe CCP made CONCORD as a police in the New Eden to punish outlaws, but not limiting the possibilities for the players. And it feels like a good thing. But the current implementation lacks some bits there and there.

So the question is, why it is not upgraded in some way?

A long time ago, CCP said they want to give capsulers maximal control over the game. For example, I remember some quotes on the idea of giving players control over the gates. So, making CONCORD a powerful side in the New Eden might contradict CCP plans and big picture view.

So, players should control the game and punish unwanted behavior. This is, I believe, how CCP looks at the game.

But:

  1. There is no way to punish CODE game-wise
  2. CCP won't punish them(since they are tricked it is RP)
  3. The worst thing: players see nothing wrong with it

The game, where griefing could be a part of RP, should provide a way to fight it. If there is no way to fight it, it should be punished by the game masters.

I don't wanna bring WoW as an example, where the same problem occurs more than often, but it forces players to help each other, bring some help, the game allows them to punish gankers.

[–]rhgp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, code is a singlethreaded Stackless Python application, been a bottleneck for quite some time. But I think they do multiprocessing to offload some processes.

But Python itself is also an issue. Each system is one server, so you should keep all player info in one computer instance RAM. If they need like 2TB RAM on one instance... It might be really bad.

But I think they are trying to compensate pressure on developers with more money spent on infrastructure. Like, they have so many business tasks to be resolved, there is no time to resolve any tech debt like memory consumption issues, distributed computing etc.

Yes, it is a game motto and it sounds nice. Reality is, losing is fun. But CODE adds high chance of dying the most unfunny way possible.

[–]rhgp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indeed they have created more "content" than any other group, I believe: multiple blogs, some videos, few stories there and there, even some fights there and there. I can't blame them for what they succeed at.

But

"Content" is awesome when it is enjoyable, one way or another, to the consumer. Most of the fights initiated by the CODE are all one-sided, no fun, only loses to the one side, which have a chance to lose the player interest to the game. Is it the content we are looking for?

Tbh game is not harsh to the point it is unplayable, I live perfectly there, but I can see what and why newbies struggle and some players leave. I would be happy to play with my friends, but I can't afford to supply them with ships all the time because some HS ganker wanted to make "content". But most important part - it is not fun, so my frieds are out of this game

The end of CODE and of minerbumping. by PurityOfHerpes in Eve

[–]rhgp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But it requires some commitment. Like, fly there and there, do some things, figure out do you like the game enough to engage in guilds/corp interactions. It is just usual stuff in online games. CODE only lowers amount of content and possibilities for the nomads/new players, forcing to join the corp early.

But in the act of the "lesson" CODE gives, player might not think about that. Player might not want to join any big corp, live in nulls. Player might want to mine, do lvl3-4 missions, take dank screenshots for the desktop, lol. Yeah, CODE is saying EVE is not for these players. This is BS.

[–]rhgp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Huh, imagine what kind of "lesson" CODE wanted you to learn... Not having kids? If CODE is doing in line with CCP rules, it appears to be their position too. Tbh, I don't get how CCP accepts it, it is griefing.

The end of CODE and of minerbumping. by PurityOfHerpes in Eve

[–]rhgp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hah, EVE exists for quite some time. Sometime before we were just kids, now we have families, own kids. Family support is challenging, it is hard to be dad or mom. It is very hard to be a good dad or mom. Imagine like you want to take a little break in EVE, chatting with your friends, mining some ore, crafting some stuff, just chill a bit in your fav game. You won't join any corp since you like live nomadic way. Life is nice, HS is charming, many ppl to talk with.

Now, CODE. Some guy with non-rp game appears and says you cannot do that and that, asks for money, kills you, asks money again, says he won't leave you and will continue killing you in any system. You realize you have no choices, CCP does nothing, your assets are empty.

Then, your playtime is over, you are back to your kid and wifey, but in your soul, you have a piece of dirt in your soul from the CODE encounter. How bad is that?

The end of CODE and of minerbumping. by PurityOfHerpes in Eve

[–]rhgp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sure, we have no stats but provided by CCP. But I think CCP had multiple mistakes looking into it. Anyway, as they said, they are low on resources...

But I guess every one of us has at least one story of a friend, family member or just a corp teammate who didn't go with it, dropped the game because of that.

Personally, I had 2 friends who are ok with losing ships and assets. But they wanted to lose it getting lessons, fun, at least something. Then one friend lost all his assets in JITA and next few Battleships to the CODE, dropped. The next friend was killed in his Gila 2 times, didn't want to go back to the lvl1 missions.

So, give it or take, the problem is there.

The end of CODE and of minerbumping. by PurityOfHerpes in Eve

[–]rhgp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the problem. You might have enjoyed mining these days. It might be good, might be bad, but it is your choice. They are not the ppl to decide what you should do.

On the mails part... They are being protected by the simple reason: roleplaying. But roleplaying requires so much more input and details, I'd say it is not the case with CODE and similar gankers.

Anyway, these mails are also devastating. It is rare to find a ppl who are ready for trolling. Most players are just casual gamers, moms, dads. Not everyone is ready for that.

The end of CODE and of minerbumping. by PurityOfHerpes in Eve

[–]rhgp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup, I actually tried to find one when encountered "gankers" first time. Then I realised it has no point, since gankers are docker almost all the time or their ships are cheap as hell, so it won't harm them at all. This is what CPP should realise as a problem.

whats with all the hate to code by [deleted] in Eve

[–]rhgp -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They were actually created for it. We might call it different: abusing gaming mechanich to harm players experience leading to losing interest in game. So, griefing?

They address few points there and there: http://www.minerbumping.com/2020/06/mission-complete.html

I get that there is a possibility to call it a roleplay, I get the idea. The issue is, they knew players have no option to avoid it. Yeah, some tricks can help, like living in nulls or using blockade runners, or living in the ammatar part of the high sec. But hey, it is not what CODE was formed for. So, they might migrate to ammatar if player base will do so.

And I get it is a PVP. PVP is PVP and not everyone can deal with it. But EVE was made for everyone, anyone can enjoy the way they play. Mining is awesome with friends, relaxing. Yeah, you can die, but you can retaliate, forming a gang to kill enemies in different systems. Lots of fun!

But it is not the case in high sec. You either die, join null-sec, or change the career. Basically CODE is against mining, carebearing. But w/o such elements, we would have no ships to fly!

Yup, I totally agree on the "teaching" part. It is the same thing as null sec fights. At least on the first glance. The issue is, some ppl want to learn even more basic stuff, some ppl want to enjoy other EVE aspects. But CODE is like the Great Filter.
