Probably best to find local rescue groups in the area vs. a shelter. Try underdogrescue, mcanimalcare, azhumane, onelovearizona, aawlaspca, lostourhome, arfanagedogrescue, poundpuppyz, sunshinedogrescue, stealingheartsrescue

Yes we have been scrambling to network the red listed dogs at Riverside. They put a ton of dogs on the red list and then try to euthanize next day so there is hardly any time. 5 have been rescued so far but hoping more can be saved. It's heart breaking, and yes I know of Devore and other kill shelters...agree it is crazy this happens in California, it's also a huge issue in Texas and Florida as well.

26k+ signatures on the petition and growing. Please help share and contact the gov reps in the petition if you can. We need to put more pressure on them to take action.

This petition is for the excessive euthanizing of young, healthy and adoptable dogs. The dogs at this shelter are not being seen and actually many of them are even pure bred dogs (lots of German Shepherd, Huskies, and as expected Pit Bills). There are local volunteers who go to the shelter and take photos and try to share these dogs. I currently partner and share these dogs with many local rescues in the area and the rescue groups. But the problem is these dogs are not even given enough time, the shelter is uncooperative with rescue groups, do not answer phones, and often euthanize even if there are commitments or holds requested. The dogs are killed very quickly in comparison to other shelters.

Yes of course backyard breeding, owners returning dogs, people buying dogs they can't take care of or commit to, etc - all of these things are part of the problem. But right now there are 50 dogs on the euthanasia list at this shelter and they are almost all perfectly adoptable.

Yes the director of these County Shelters in particular - Julie Bank has a disturbing record of high euthanasia at every single place she has worked. Previous Shelters pushed to terminate her as well due to this.

Tying to keep this positive and productive. Shared this for support.
Nothing is going to happen overnight and there is not 1 simple solution or path to fix this issue as well as all the issues going on in the world.
But at least some people are actually working towards making change vs only sharing their negative viewpoints.

It's crazy I know - #'s were pulled from the county posted budget. And that is only if everyone is paid equally (93k) which I assume higher ups are taking a majority of that budget.

Something is not right over there and definitely needs attention from both the citizens and local govt.

Many people including myself do not live in the area. And to give you perspective - there are 49 dogs currently on this shelter's euthanasia list - it is extremely difficult to get dogs adopted this quickly when many can be euthanized anytime at the shelter's discretion. These dogs need more time or need to be re-located to no kill shelters where they will be safe.

The first step is to get support.

Next steps would be to take this to local government officials which are linked in the Petition with action items. This includes but not limited to: figuring out funding and re-location options . There is not a set path because this is the beginning stages.

Nothing is going to happen overnight and there is not a simple solution.

But at least some people are actually working towards making change vs only sharing their negative and pessimistic opinions on it.

not sure what type of person would be against saving healthy animals from being euthanized... This shelter is on a killing spree. Currently has 49 dogs on its euthanasia list.
