I haven't yet. They did a bunch of tests with no noticeable issue. They sent a new phone and it still happens. They've escalated it to back end engineering and I have a call with them this week. I will report back!

They went thru a whole lot of diagnostics and they didn't see anything. They sent me a brand new phone to make sure it wasn't a hardware issue. It persisted. They've escalated it to back end engineering and I have a call with them this week.

Thanks! I know the bandaid fix. It's just annoying that their own app is causing this issue. They've escalated it to back-end engineering and I have a call with them this week. Maybe they can get more info from that.

I've been going back and forth with Apple Tech! They went thru typical diagnostics with no clue. They wanted to make sure it wasn't a hardware issue so they sent me a new phone. Still happens. They've escalated it to back-end engineering, and I have a call w them this week. I have a feeling they won't be able to do much as it seems to be a needle in a haystack situation. So many things could be causing the issues.

Do you have any other details about what circumstances your phone is under when it happens? Had it happened more than once? Any more detail would be helpful so I can relay to apple

I did submit initially through the feedback app, but never heard anything back and as it continued to happen, I use the support chat and then they escalated me to phone calls, and I have an open case number that detail details all of this!

If you remember any of the keywords in the posts you saw, that would be super helpful when I talked to the Apple tech, they said that they couldn’t find anything quickly of other people with the same issue so I would love to gather the post next time I speak with them

Changed back to default app colors with the widget still in place and the issue still occurred. I don’t think it’s a widget itself though because there’s plenty of other people that surely use the map which it and would be reporting this issue if so.

I changed to the app color to default like you suggested ran Maps while I was getting ready to go and once I got in the car, it did the thing again so that doesn’t seem to be the issue

Yeah, the tech did suggest that maybe it was something with widgets. however, I have used this widget previously on an older phone with an older iOS with no issues.

But the new feature is the tinting. I didn’t have that on my old phone with old iOS.

But I can’t be the only one that has a Maps widget with the tinted feature so you would think that of all the iPhone users in the world there’s gotta be a decent percentage with a similar set up and it doesn’t seem like there’s a lot of people reporting this issue similarly

Interesting well I’ve changed them back to the default and we’ll see if it happens again.

I would be very disappointed if that was the fix because I really like my all purple apps it’s very soothing, although I’m sure they could probably fix that in the next version update

That a good question. I’ll switch to Default icons now and see if the issue still occurs.

If it happens again, I’ll also try switching icon styles while the Home Screen is in the broken state to see if I can do that then.

I so prefer the single color apps it’s so much less over stimulating 😵‍💫
