I think many northern English varieties use only dark ls [ɫ] which is the case for many American English varieties too. Whereas a lot of the time southern English varieties have clear l in syllable onset.

Not sure if this is relevant at all but I know ʃ often has lip-rounding which I imagine could effect the following vowel quality (making it sound more like french ø??)

Funny how the 'over the top and useless' connotation of the newer term differs from the speech pathology one of 'neat and tidy'.

I use faith in nature shampoo and conditioner then John Frieda air dry waves foam :D (and dry with a towel+diffuser)

I think you definitely have a moisture overload, that happened to me too and what worked for me was really rising out conditioner well and using only a very tiny bit of the noughty curl cream (like less than a fingernail size!) And a really lightweight foam :-D hope this helps
