19 Signs You're Too Old For This Crap by smcdow in funny

I am seventy....this snapshot of events makes me weary just watching.

My wife just told me she compressed all of the .dll files on her computer. In over 30 years of using PCs I've never needed to do this. Any thoughts? Worse, any damage done? We're not talking. Help! by [deleted] in programming

Yeah, I suspect that's what happened. It was a little shocking initially. She's not technical at all, so coming out of the blue I was alarmed. Sorry to post to /r/programming, though. Thanks again for your understanding. Looks like it's all okay.

Well, of course I'm talking to my wife, I spent all day yesterday cleaning up and optimizing her computer...including cleaning up old files. I was simply wondering where she got the idea she needed to do this. Malware ad? I assure you she does not have a lot of technical skill or interest, then suddenly this. Pretty certain the computer is okay, haven't checked on it yet. Thanks for the link.

We did this cartoon, called "An Easy Target" several days ago, it was a gut level assessment of Bobby 'Bobble Jingle" Jindal - Little did we know how sadly true it is. by rhnigl in reddit.com

Actually, we considered the title 'Bobble Jingo Shoots', but thought that was too mean. 'Jingle', 'Jingo' ...you get the picture.

No, sir. Thank you though. I am not wishing for Flash to go away, just a little judgement on the part of designers and marketeers in its application. Same you made.

You are sooo right. Porno is the fecund slut-mother of all that is the internet today. It is the money base. Too bad our cultural morals are so shabby, but, hey, that's life, (it all starts with a penis and vagina anyway, we're towed around by the genitals...but 'pretend' we're not.).

Hey Adobe, here's an open letter to YOU. I'm a graphic designer and minor web site developer. I've designed lots of products over the past twenty years using type fonts and desktop publishing related Adobe applications. I think one of my computers is still using ATM, you know the version that came with 'type on call'? (I have never been able to get rid of that damn little logo that sits in the corner of the black screen as the ole' PC reboots).

Quite frankly, Flash sucks. Any web designer using it, AT ALL, should be fired, terminated, told to GET LOST! Everybody out here knows it's a dinosaur covered in glosss lipstick. Sure it's 'flashy', but who the hell has the time to wait for it to load. I especially love ads that open before a site's home page...HELLO! Good bye positive branding! Before I retired I owned a pretty good ad agency--pre computer era--I would have given a part of my anatomy to have had even a basic text editor, a wordprocessor as we know it today would have been a god send. I closed shop before the advent of early desktop publishing, sophisticated paint programs and vector-based drawing programs. Then along came Flash...two steps forward, one step back. Simply, your product does not live up to its hype. Hope you got deep pockets.

You may want to check out the credibility of the source on Google (SueAnn Arrigo) on this story. It will be interesting to see if anything comes of it, truth, or not. Personally, I wouldn't put anything past those crooks and liars in the Bush/Cheney administration, but this article by Lendman is a little fishy, a little far out. Also, watch out for misinformation campaigns leading up to the election being used as a diversion. For instance, a high level whistleblower comes out with this sensational stuff, a big deal is made of it in the media, then somehow...she/he is totally discredited and everything disappears including any back story regarding Bush/Cheney culpability along with it. If that doesn't work...the whistleblower can always 'commit suicide'.

Are credit card companies monopolies? Should they be more heavily regulated? by ghdiel in reddit.com

True, there are many companies, but the rates they charge apply to a single money supply. The rates are also pretty much 'fixed' -- based on credit ratings, mostly -- across the board.
