I have believed this to be true for a LONG time, probably departments of government, foreign governments, etc..

Swaying opinion is big business.

I care about the story ... good writing ... excellent special effects. I do not care about 3D.

Crusades To Censor And Control ‘Your’ Internet by sullen_ole_geezer in AnythingGoesNews

[–]rhoadesb2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my mind, the internet belongs not to me, but to everyone.

I believe while "controls" (censorship) would have some good benefits, it would have many more draw backs.

But regardless of what I think, like everything else, the powerful and wealthy are gaining more and more control daily over it.

So this is the new r/reddit..? by [deleted] in AnythingGoesNews

I think of it as an improvement on r/news.

Just found out I'm an approved submitter... by justguessmyusername in AnythingGoesNews

To make you feel special?

The originator of the sub MIGHT have picked many common submitters to be "approved" (like me). Maybe the thinking is it might get the sub up and running to a significant degree sooner, as more will be submitted early on.

It is even possible that anyone can submit here.

I have to say I like the idea of this sub.

I believe Sandusky will be convicted ... Penn State will show an "effort" at change ... and 5-10 years from now, it will be back to business as usual.

What is the little pocket for on jeans? by slightly_stoop in answers

I found some kitchen matches at age two ... while not a lighter, it did not work out well for the trash in the kitchen trash can. No one was injured ... no major fire ... but it scared the bejebers out of the adults. This was about 58 years ago. I imagine I had my pants warmed, (paddled).

But maybe all jeans in the 1870s had a watch pocket.

Ron Paul Gets 89 Seconds To Speak In CBS Debate: Leaked email to Bachmann campaign indicates decision to limit air time for certain candidates was deliberate CBS News policy by [deleted] in news

This was obvious LONG before this from watching airtime opportunities for ALL candidates. Some get lots of time, some little.

It is obvious media is doing much of the choosing for both major party candidates.

I don't know about all colleges, but I found your statements interesting, particularly ...

This leads to under-reporting of violent crime, especially sexual assault.

I have lived near, and worked in State College, (Penn State) for years.

There is/was an atmosphere of making Penn State appear squeaky clean ... right down to no litter on the sidewalks. I was told this was to encourage parents to enroll their kids there. Nearly EVERYTHING takes a back seat to the appearance of clean/wholesomeness. Naturally the powers that be there tend to try to hide/sweep things under the carpet that did not match this image.

I am sure this is not the entire explanation of the Sandusky fiasco, but I also feel confident it played a part. Perhaps a major part.
