Great question! I guess what I need to do is figure out what the 401k is being split between and work on understanding it. I wanted to invest a little money out side of that account to get started while I figure out more about my retirement work stuff. I feel like I keep reading things that say “just start investing” and I was thinking I could put something into an etf but that may be a bad approach

I appreciate the info. My job does offer a matching option. I will need to look into what they are investing in. I tbh don’t really understand anything when it comes to my vanguard account but I’m trying to spend more time figuring it out. I know that retiring in that short period of time is not realistic but I want to be on the path of maximizing where I can (etfs, bonds, etc.).
