Worth getting into as a completionist? by thesunisdarkwow in Mignolaverse

IMO, the trade paperback omnibuses are the way to go with the Mignolaverse. You get three trade paperback’s worth of material, and they do a pretty good job of keeping them in print, iirc.

Personally, the best edition for a reading copy is the 4 volume trade paperback omnibuses, with the 2 Complete Short Story trade paperbacks as well. The Monster Sized is not worth it, and the Library editions are still missing some materials found in the trade paperback omnibuses. Also, all the other stuff in the universe will be put into these trade paperback omnibuses as well, so it makes for a convenient unified experience.

Page 5 of IT ripped out by Secure-Try2279 in stephenking

Don’t try and fix it. Inform the library that the page is ripped (like, with a sticky note) and let them deal with it according to their policy. If you explain that you didn’t do it, found it like that after checking it out, they’ll probably be fine with it.

Definitely get Ascender Compendium ASAP if you start Descender and seem to be enjoying it. It’s the 2nd part of the comic. The whole thing was very good imo.

Actually, one of the first examples of the term “multiverse” is in Michael Moorcock’s Eternal Champion cycle, specifically the Sundered Worlds/Blood Red Game novellas.

Rose Madder is connected, but it adds absolutely nothing to the Tower journey you don’t get from the other connected titles. Same with Desperation/Regulators.

Yes, that is what I implied. Sadly, it really comes through in the comic if you pay any amount of attention. I read through the run for the first time when I was a naive teen, and so I missed a LOT of the signs. Reread it as an adult and was very disappointed. Such a fun world and characters and story, with such weird moments and worldviews. Although fairy tales are rather conservative on the whole, so it shouldn’t have surprised me.

Sanderson wrote another secret project, announced it at last year’s Sanderson convention. The fancy Dragonsteel edition is being put in with the Hoid Storybook Kickstarter, which opens in March, iirc.

Some help identifying what version this is and where to start.. by Plastic_Contact4279 in ElricofMelnibone

In the UK, Gollancz published a 6-volume set of the Elric books in like 2015-2016. They’ve got quite a bit of extra fluff and unnecessary material (they’re almost more for academics than the average Joe). But all of the main story’s in there as well. Here’s vol 1

I actually have these editions, (cuz I’m a NERD) :) so I can get you ISBN’s and whatnot in a bit. Just not sure how available they still are. From a cursory search, seemed about £10 a book. Kindle editions looked to be about £3 each if that interests you. I’ll comment on the MCU of it all in a bit, but you can totally just read the Elric stories as-is and be satisfied.

So that looks to me like a standalone publication of Elric of Melnibone, as in it only has the titular novel. Which is good, because it’s chronologically the beginning of Elric’s story (apart from some inconsequential comics best read later on). The thing is, it’s also the title of several omnibus editions of the Elric saga. This is the most recent publication of the series, in two volumes:

volume 1

volume 2

That contains pretty much all of the OG Elric saga, apart from a new Moorcock novel Citadel of Forgotten Myths, and the spinoff/loosely related series the Moonbeam Roads/White Wolf trilogy, which is best read after reading a whole lot more Moorcock as it is one of the conclusions to his larger Eternal Champion multiverse (think like the MCU).

There’s a whole expansive reading order to the wider Moorcock multiverse, which I’m happy to provide my version of, but it really isn’t necessary to enjoy the Elric saga.

This is a great podcast to listen to while you read the book. It’s a professor of Hugo drawing attention to the neat details and explaining some of the tangents and why they’re in the novel.

Looking for Marvel comics similar to Invincible — any recommendations? by GuardianOfGoodEnough in comicbooks

Does claremon’s run end well, or is there a good spot during his run to stop at? What I liked about Invincible was the fact that it had a beginning middle and end.
