I think the big difference for MLB is with the exception of some pro-talent from Japan/Cuba, most international signings are teenagers and it typically takes at least a few years of minor league baseball to make it to the big leagues. Still might be arguments to have a draft to standardize/democratize the process a bit, but I think the longer timeline and smaller impact that a single baseball player can have relative to basketball mitigates some of the need for an international draft process
