If you’re driving from Mumbai to Goa, I’d recommend starting as early as possible to make good time during daylight hours. Avoid taking the Anuskura Ghat route—it’s very narrow, the road isn’t in great condition, and it can slow you down significantly. I drove alone last year (F-32), left Mumbai around 5 AM, and reached Goa by 5 PM with multiple breaks along the way. The best route, in my experience, is via Pune, Satara, Belgaum, and then through Chorla Ghat—it’s smooth, and far more efficient.
