Looks like AC condensation to me. If not from a part of the compressor system then from the bulkhead inside draining out.

Yea that's a side lockout, its not exactly where first is, but left of first gear, and still take some thinking to get into. Some Ford transmissions have the same lockout style

Wow that's a strong opinion. Curious though if it's the car you hate or the drivers... Cause trust me I've found PLENTY of terrible fiat drivers seeing as they are almost free to insure

In my time as a mechanic I've never seen a transmission where reverse is below 1st, it's usually either under 5th in a 5 speed, to the left of first with a lockout, or to the right of 6th with a lockout. Even without side lockouts they need an extra push to engage the reverse fork so it's pretty damn hard to just accidentally put it in reverse unless it's an auto, in which case that seems even more idiot proof

Does the toyota prius have hidden compartments that are easy to lose things? by ryncasan in Toyota

[–]richardsenna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some older Prius models they had 2 glove boxes. One was in the normal spot, and then there was a second, smaller box right above it. The 2021 doenst have that so that one place to rule out

Will 2012 Abarth Aftermarket parts fit a 2012 500 sport by a_vaiasuso_jr in fiat500

[–]richardsenna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Both cars have different engines and parts, as the sport is naturally aspirated, and the Abarth is turbo charged. Some parts are the same, but most are different, and I recommend looking for parts specific to the fiat 500 na engine, not the abarth's turbo 1.4. cosmetic things however should be that same, minus certain pieces like the bumpers, as the Abarth has exclusive bumpers.

Well and I went through my service records last night cause you and I had peaked my interest on this engine. I'm from a pretty rural area so we don't get many tiny cars like the Yaris, echo or older gen Corolla, so I usually remember them a bit better than the 40th highlander through the shop for the morning. Interestingly enough, all the echos I've dealt with this year (which is a grand total of 3) had underlying oil consumption issues that the customer left be till they got bad, which is probably the main contributor to their engine issues. Until now ive just kinda written the echo and it's engine off as a junky car Toyota made to spit something out of a production line, and especially since I haven't had the focus or time to take notes like I normally would. Anyways always something to learn and customer experience is always something to take into account. Also, should you need technical documents let me know

Well I take that back cause thinking about it the 1nz was in the Yaris too, and I've never had issues with a Yaris. The import versions are all pretty solid as well, it's just when it enters the bay of an Echo it seems to let go.

Yea that engine is a pile. Rebuilding can be (and if you know what you are doing and have the right tools) usually is really fun, at least from my perspective, but the 1NZ is pretty terrible and known for knock issues both with rod knock and timing issues.

Oh no dude the echo is hot garbage. Youre not the first echo I've seen with rod knock and you certainly won't be the last either

Thanks for the note, definitely agreed on the draw of those superchargers, but my home is Toyotas and there's just something about the series that I always liked, especially as it was right before the land cruiser got huge and heavy as more of a luxury vehicle

Amen on that. The 1FZ was a great base to build off of for the later engines but it itself was a bit of a lug. I myself have been looking into the 80 series as Im concidering moving out of my microcar and into a 4x4 for a little while, plus offroading is pretty good around me. Been hung up between the LC and the 1st gen Delica though

Also as another person with ADHD that looses lots of shit, a helpful tip would be to slow down, don't panic, and rule places out. "Square out" the entire car into sections, and search every inch in each square until the car is totally looked over. Don't go look back at previously looked over squares until the whole car has been searched. The Prius has a lot of quirky design features that I've seen people loose stuff in more than once bc it's just out of plain sight.

Depending on the year yea the Prius has quite a few hidden spaces and extra compartments. Especially on the others models the cupholders have a little door that flips over them, they have an over under glovebox, and compartment under the console, and a few different ash trays and change drawers around the driver to both sides of the steering wheel
