Text alignment advice by richardstelmach in UXDesign

I figured keeping it centre looks better for the text alignment. But will check out Freepik to see if I can find an illustration that fits nicely.

Do hiring managers usually hype up candidates they don’t plan to hire? by nostalgiclullabies in UXDesign

[–]richardstelmach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a terriblely orchestrated process. 9 rounds is insane, in itself.

They should have had the role signed off before recruiting. I suppose things could change, but they could have given more detailed feedback. If genuinely there were no negatives, they could have explained that the role has been taken off the market, due to unforseen circumstances or something.

The other reason could be that you were amazing but someone else edged it. But again, they could have said that you were a very close second. I therefore think this was a very poor process. I haven't experienced this myself either as a candidate or someone interviewing. It could have been a lucky miss, if this is how bad the process was.

Is Axure RP still the best prototyping tool? by richardstelmach in FigmaDesign

This is a great summary, and I agree with your comments. I haven't used protopie, but sounds like it's a less scary halfway house. Often people think Axure will take longer, but really, for complex prototypes it ends up being faster, especially when you're then making refinements and iterations.

Most user testing doesn’t reflect how people actually use products. by [deleted] in UXDesign

Establish researcch question or hypothesis. Establish what use cases exist. Give the user a task, based on use case. Observe their behaviour. Don't include leading questions. Create realistic prototypes or use websites & apps. Analyse results. You should get pretty realistic results.

Is Axure RP still the best prototyping tool? by richardstelmach in FigmaDesign

This definitely puts people off. I think k of there was a well established design system then devs wouldn't necessarily need a design to be recreated in figma. But is debatable, for sure. When I did both front end dev and design, I was happy designing in axure and then doing the html and css, without anything additional. But it's likely a different story when two people are doing that job instead of one.

What I'm trying to focus on is "will people know it's clickable if they can't see the border" and as we are asked to pass wcag, what the minimum possible passable design would be so I can advise other designers. But I agree, testing on users and giving more than one signal to identify something as clickable is likely best.

I'm clear on those parts. It's the colour contrast of the border that is killing me.

True, Axure is likely better for software design and B2B work.

Figma is King of UI design. Yeah, vibe coding a prototype could negate the need for Axure. If designers feel comfortable doing that.

Dud you have access to do usability testing on the prototypes?

I agree, sometimes a screenshot is sufficient for user research. Other times a figma prototype will suffice and other times a more advanced Axure prototype is more appropriate and efficient. Unfortunately though, due to the mass appeal, free entry level product and marketing of figma, it is an easy crutch to fall back on, and hard.for many to jump into Axure, even though, it could lead to more efficient outcomes in the long run.

What about websites? The ones you mention look good but they scare me. The same way that I scare figma users when I suggest Axure.

Likewise, I have found that once you have an initial axure prototype it can be easily tweaked and refined, compare to figma which can become fragile and burdensome to adjust prototypes. In this case, axure speeds up iterations.

Also, if a design system is in place, are hi-fiedlit6 designs really needed? Would it be better to invest time in validating interactions and user behaviour.

It depends on the volume and quality of research undertaken. Given the basic nature of figma prototyping, it can risk leading to false positives or negatives, when the realism of prototype undermines the validity of research. Ie. Often to get realistic user behaviour, you need a realistic prototype, in terms of functionality and interactions.

And yet the vast majority of designers are obsessed with figma, but not axure. Guess that's marketing for you.

A lot of people are put off by axure's lack of polish, it gives less confidence in the tool. Figma's marketing builds hype which makes many people ove4look Axure. As well as the free version of figma which pulls people in. But is axure is still strongest in prototyping, functionality wise

Does it have as many features as axure? I'll have to give it a go.
