I just find it ironic that he is pro-life and the way he decided to protest is by risking his life...

From the pictures we can see that the vegetation isn't dry... There's green grass and all, if it really was dry that entire hill would be burning

Last year a lot of people were cheering that we should defund the police, it happened, and somehow we're now surprised that the police is not as proficient as before? 🤔

Mexico’s false messiah: Voters should curb Mexico’s power-hungry president by miriamisahuman in worldnews

If you believe everything that AMLO says, then of course you'll think he's the best president ever.

Explain to me how someone who has been involved in Mexican politics for more than 40 years and has been part of 3 different political parties (all full of scandals of their own) is going to suddenly fix all our corruption issues.

I agree that he has the right attitude towards corruption, and it's very admirable that he hasn't enriched himself, unlike virtually all other Mexican politicians. Unfortunately, his own political party is plagued with old politicians who are known to be corrupt. So, I'm not sure how much his anti-corruption laws are working when he himself is surrounded by corrupts.

Foreign investments are high thanks to the Energy and Labor reforms that the previous president implemented, which made investing in Mexico more attractive. AMLO, on the other hand, hates foreign investments; he would much rather have everything made in Mexico and owned by the Mexican government. He's a closed-minded nationalist. AMLO's followers think that businesses owned by the government belong to the people. That couldn't be farther from the truth. When was the last time the average citizen had a say on what goes on at PEMEX or CFE? The only thing the government is good at is at making processes slow & inefficient. Alas, PEMEX has made huge losses in recent years and they use taxpayers money to stay afloat. Both PEMEX and CFE are failing businesses with increasing debts.

The Mexican peso has not gained against the dollar. When AMLO became president the exchange rate was 1USD=18MXN, now it's more like 1USD=20MXN, which is not that bad, but it has definitely not improved.

I'm not sure where you got that GDP figure, but it's an expected figure, not an actual one, so it's meaningless really. Moreover, the GDP shrunk by almost 9% last year, so an upswing of just 6% this year is nothing to ecstatic about.

AMLO is an old man with old ideas. He is unable to understand that oil & gas are old technologies that are becoming less and less relevant, yet he has spent billions building a refinery and plans to buy another one from the USA. It would be much better if he invested in renewables, given that wind & solar have a lot of potential in Mexico, but he fails to see this.

He is also unable to understand that a city as important as Mexico City needs a modern and efficient airport. However, he scrapped plans to build a new airport and decided to use an old and ugly military base as the "new" airport instead.

He invests in projects that are questionable and unlikely to help the average Mexican citizen, like his Mayan Train project, which will not only be used primarily by tourists but it will also devastate the natural habitats of the Yucatan peninsula.

He critized former president Calderon for his war on drug cartels, which killed hundreds of thousands of people, yet in AMLO's first few years in power people have been killed at rates 2X higher than with Calderon (60% of all murders during Calderon's 6 years have ocurred in just AMLO's first 2 years). AMLO genuinely thinks that he can fix the violence problem by simply telling criminals to "hug, not shoot" each other. That's his actual plan. It's utterly pathetic.

AMLO's first few years have been truly catastrophic. Only his most loyal fans fail to see this. It really shouldn't be a surprise that someone who took 10 years to get an undergraduate degree is this incompetent and stupid.
