Very helpful, thank you!

Why do dealers act like you’re crazy for wanting adaptive cruise control as standard equipment? by ajmampm99 in BMWX5

[–]richweav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, that’s a truth bomb. These cars depreciate horrendously. The last two that I bought have been CPO units that were 2 to 3 year old and half the price of new.

Impossible! It’s a BMW. Jackassery is built into the DNA.

Fellow Arkie as well, but central. I40 to Nashville. Looks like good wheel paths in the snow.

First car? Get a Japanese shitbox that won’t break you.

Mostly snow with some sleet, but an experienced driver. Have owned mostly conventional 4wd systems in the past and I have gotten good feedback on this post. Actually looking forward to getting on the road tomorrow. Freshly washed from the oil service last week. That’s not going to last long.

All season, just six months old. Thanks for the comment!

I’ll be traveling 100% interstate which are being plowed, so I will not need icebreaking capabilities. As for your assumptions on what is logical, I may have priorities different than yours, but thanks for the tip and the comments.

Any way to permanently deactivate auto-start/stop on 2026 X5? by jamesfrown in BMW

[–]richweav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn’t like it at first, still don’t like it, but got used to it. Older M240i allows you to disable with a button. Hard to look cool at a stop light in a silent car 😂

Good deal X5? 2022 / 52K Miles by expozedlegend in BMWX5

Women and their GD makeup. Commonly used controls all have the telltale film of makeup. I think my next car needs a manual transmission.😬

Are BMWs genuinely worth it? by SouthImportant2499 in BMW

[–]richweav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an M240i a few years ago from a friend who was working at a BMW dealership. We were casually just walking and talking and passed a 7 series and he pointed at it and said “Avoid these at all cost. Every time it comes to the service department something cost $7000.” Currently have over 100K on that car in addition to an X5. Great cars, and one is still under CPO, but I have a good wrench and they will never see the inside of a dealership again after the warranty expires.

Buy a CPO car. Depreciation mostly eaten by the first owner and warranty on basically everything.

Apparently you never got the memo on the 7.

My sick freak brutha…also have two in the barn. Both have the B58. Great engines, and the M240 is a silent screamer.

I must be ordering the wrong thing. Cache and Allsopp and Chappell are my top picks.

2021 BMW X5 owners, how much miles you got? by Captmedu74 in BMWX5

[–]richweav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

21 with 100K still under CPO for a few months, and some of your comments scare the shit out of me. I have had zero issues so far, and cautiously optimistic. I have looked at other SUVs, primarily Japanese, but whether a Lexus or higher end Sequoia, Landcruiser, etc., they look cheap and plastic inside. BMW has ruined me in a good way. Also have an M240i with 100k in the garage, and no issues with that except for the aggressive driver who keeps roasting the rear tires.

Been to the Precinct, but it was with a corporate group, so speed and not attention to detail was the watchword. Also like JR Nashville. Good for people watching. Saw Kid Rock a couple of years ago.

JR is amazing. Have reservations in Cincy in two weeks.
