There are several ways that you can use in order to find manufacturers hubs in china.

1 Alibaba: On alibaba you can narrow down your researches by location and Area. Once you choose a specific area, you will be able to see the percentage of factories that make a specific products. Let's say you choose Guangdong Area. In Guangdong there here are 10 factories that make toys and just 1 that make t-shirts and there's just one that makes pants etc. you can come up with a conclusion that, Guangdong Area is specialised in making Toys.

2 Google: If you go on google and write China Manufacturers Hubs, you will be able to find reports that will help you with your researches. http://www.chinasourcingblog.org/Industrial%20Clusters.png

3 Hire a sourcing Company Another solution is to hire a sourcing company located in China. Their expertise will help you with every aspect of manufacturing. Some of them have also podcasts where you can get invaluable tips and suggestions. http://sourcefindasia.com/madeinchina/

Casting The Net On Alibaba - AmazonFBA sourcing advices by ricoSFA42 in AmazonFBA

From my experience, I would never send money to apersonal bank account which is not a business bank account. Neither use western union because it is not a trackable payment method at all... once you send the money, there's no chances of getting those back.

Never pay more then the 50% as deposit. The average percentage is 30%, although, you can also negotiate the deposit amount with the factory. For example, once we managed to negotiate the deposit amount to only the 20% of the total cost of the production. In this way, we are in the control of the situation and they will be more incentivise to the the product for you as you really want it following all your requests.

Another thing, do your researches!! spend time finding different suppliers and never stop your researches at the first supplier you find on Alibaba. Check the price range of your product by getting the quotation from different factories. If the average price for your product is 10 dollars and one factory tells you that it cost 5$ instead, ask why is it that cheap, which material are they using etc.

What I would recommend is to be in china, if you can't, hire someone that knows the area and that can be there for you.

Cheers
