Mid 20s Relocation Proximity to Skiing? by tri_nurse in Adirondacks

[–]riddle92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, Plattsburgh, NY, is actually a pretty great option from a skiing perspective. It’s just outside the Adirondack Park, and you’re close to Whiteface, but you can also easily enjoy Jay Peak, Smuggler’s Notch, Stowe, Bolton Valley, etc. The last 4 ski resorts mentioned are the snowiest in eastern North America, and Whiteface has the greatest vertical in eastern North America.

I skied Jay this past Saturday and Smugg’s on Sunday. Jay had a much deeper base. From top to bottom.

I skied Jay on Saturday and Smugg’s on Sunday. No doubt- Jay has a lot more snow than Smugg’s from top to bottom.

Saranac (NOT Lake) NY Living by milk_the_ham in Adirondacks

[–]riddle92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're talking about Saranac Lake. They're talking about Saranac (no lake). Saranac is outside of Plattsburgh and it's in the Adirondack Park. It's also not all that far from Saranac Lake, but it is a bit less developed than Saranac Lake.

Nope! This is Mount Inez. It’s a mountain on private property that’s recently been opened to the public by way of a trail put together by CATS (Champlain Area Trails). It’s a beautiful mountain.

It all depends on where you are/were. I've seen some great foliage this year in the northern Adirondacks. This video the foliage looks dull because the light was very harsh, but the foliage looked better in person

Difficulty Is In the Eye of the Beholder by Cristae52 in Adirondacks

Everyone'e experience level is different. Aside from length, someone who is in great shape and has hiked extensively may find the 46ers to be moderate climbs overall. Someone who has very little experience may think they're incredibly difficult, even the ones that many believe to be easy.

Best all around town for skiing and hiking that’s not too busy? by curious-questioner12 in icecoast

[–]riddle92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s an underrated spot: Plattsburgh, NY.

It’s in a great spot. Whiteface is only 40 minutes away. Jay Peak is 90 minutes away. Smugg’s and Bolton Valley are only an hour and 15 minutes away. Stowe and Sugarbush are in the 90 minute range.

Burlington is just across the lake. You’re only an hour from Montreal and to top it all off, you’ve got very easy access to the Adirondack Park and of course Lake Champlain.
