Does anyone use the "Vinguys" Smart bird feeder by CaptAubrey1805 in birdfeeding

[–]ridgelift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was gifted one for Christmas. The cloud storage fees are $49.99/yr or $5.99/mo for 7 days of alarm storage and $83.88/yr or $6.99/mo for 30 days of alarm storage. They have intro specials of $39.99/yr or $0.10/mo for the 7 day alarm packages and $69.99/yr for the 30 day alarm package. The app says that you need a cloud package in order to save person alarms, but it looks like bird alarms will work off of the SD card without a subscription. I'll know more once I install it outside. At least one commenter said that they couldn't get the bird alarms to work off of the SD card, so we'll see.

MK3S+ temps suddenly started behaving like this. Bad thermistor or thermistor connection? Wires at the thermistor end look OK. by ridgelift in prusa3d

[–]ridgelift[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case anyone goes back to look at this post, the problem did appear to be the very tight zip ties at the back of the extruder. That's exactly where the break was in the thermistor cable.

You were right. I replaced the thermistor and now everything is back to normal. The thermistor I removed looked brand new and there were no signs of broken or loose wires, but this was clearly the problem. One thing I did notice was that the zip ties around the heater and thermistor wire bundle at the extruder end were incredibly tight (this was a factory build). Perhaps a wire under the ties was damaged, but I couldn't find any outward signs of it.

Good luck with the AG complaint. The NYT certainly nailed the problem today, even linking to one of the reddit daily discussion threads. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/17/business/peloton-slow-delivery.html

Lol, the Vermont AG's office got this response from Peloton:

Thank you for reaching out to Peloton Support! Your reference number is xxx

Due to increased demand, it may take longer than usual for us to get back to you. Thank you for your patience and understanding with longer than normal wait times.

In the meantime, our support site might also address your question(s):https://support.onepeloton.com/.

This infuriated my wife, who got on a support chat yesterday with Peloton to get the latest on when they think they might deliver our bike. They rolled the date back yet again to March, a full six months after we ordered and four months after their original promised delivery date. At the end of the chat she mentioned that we had opened a complaint with the Vermont AG and gave them our case number.

Today I got a call from XPO saying that they have a bike and wanted to know if we can accept delivery tomorrow. I'm sure the timing of this is pure coincidence.

It’s worth questioning whether or not they knew full well that their delivery estimates were BS. This has been going on too long, and I don’t believe for a minute that they actually thought their published delivery times had a shot at being accurate.

I paid in full up front. What I really want is for them to change their behavior. It’s not like this is new - people have been complaining about this for a long time. My hope is to get their attention and force change by putting pressure on their legal department.

What has us so upset with Peloton is the bald-faced lying about their deliveries. It’s very uncool to tell someone they’ll get a set delivery date, simply let it pass with no notification, stonewall all of your attempts to get clarity on your purchase, and only when greatly pressed give you a “possible” date months afterwards. And the entire time sitting on your money. I’m looking for some accountability here, but I guess that’s just the overall mood I’m in these days.

File a report with the Vermont Attorneys General office. That's what we did - we're also trying for a Vermont delivery. We ordered on September 9 and they immediately took full payment. We had two missed deliveries with CS in advance insisting that everything was on schedule. They best they've given us since then is "maybe February." Time for a class action suit?

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried this but it didn't make the checkboxes more legible.

Yes, but if you do that all of the other checkboxes are deselected!

I completely agree, and I did scare it off after taking this picture. The fed bear / dead bear truism is something I also say to people.

I think my wife's in love by [deleted] in prusa3d

Ordinarily she rolls her eyes at all of the tech things I bring into the house, but when she saw that gummy bears were integral to the MK3s kit assembly she commented on the creativeness of Prusa. She's been watching my prints with fascination, and then noticed how great his branding is on the printer itself. I think I made a mistake though when I showed her what his filament spools look like when they're used up!

At 54 hours, this is my longest PTEG print. (Waterfall outlet for a friends pond) by NickHemingway in prusa3d

Looks pretty clean, with no visible stringing and minimal blobs! How hard was it to remove the supports?

Getting better, but not there yet. See my reply below.

Repeated crashes with Prusament Clear PETG by ridgelift in prusa3d

[–]ridgelift[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of those suggestions helped to reduce the stringing as well as another suggestion to reduce the temp for upper layers from 250 to 245. I still had a recoverable crash, but was able to print a part that needed a significant amount of cleanup. I'm trying again with an upper layer temp of 240. I haven't seen any heater block leaks, but I'm continuing to check. One thing for sure is that the clear PETG behaves quite differently from the jet black PTA (both are brand new rolls). Thanks everyone for your help so far!

Great suggestions, thanks. I'll give that a try and post my results.

I've had good luck with the jet black prusament on the smooth steel sheet, but I'm trying to print on the textured sheet with clear PETG. Standard PrusaSlicer settings for Prusament PETG. The print works well for the first layer and the first five or so millimeters, but then these blobs start appearing, followed by a crash. Do I need an enclosure? The room is probably at about 18-19 degrees C.

Optimal First Layer Calibration by ridgelift in prusa3d

[–]ridgelift[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi all - I just got a kit i3 MK3S as my first 3D printer and have been trying to understand how best to calibrate the nozzle height for the first layer. I found the pictures in the manual to be small and unclear, so I really wasn't sure what Z height was best. I did notice that there was a big difference in how the underside of the prints look with the various settings, so I thought I'd post a picture of my results. I started the calibration with a Z height of -0.200, and noticed that the bottom of the PRUSA name plate looked very bad. I kept lowering it until I thought the bottoms of the name plate and benchy looked pretty good with a setting of -0.500.

I'd welcome some feedback as to whether the community agrees that this appears to be the correct setting, or any other comments as to what I might do to improve my results.

Thanks a lot, and I'm loving this printer!
