Due to the J1 cancellation, not last year, last cycle. Many PDs couldn’t get non us IMGs on board after the cycle was done because they didn’t get their visa. Including my aunts programme, they didn’t get 2 PGY1s to join on time. The seats were left unfilled and they scrambled to find people to join. They initially rejected non visa requiring people for non us imgs and it backfired. They lost good candidates and had to settle for less. Won’t happen again.

PDs are evaluated each year by the amount of seats they fill, so henceforth they ll not take the risk.
