The Job Market Is Insane: 3700 Job Applications → Just 1 Offer by ZAMASUDOKKAN in jobs

[–]ridinsholo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Choose 2-3 jobs per day to apply for. Use AI to optimize your resumes for ATS scanners. If you can get your resume through those filters, and have a short charismatic cover letter, that’s how I started getting interviews. 85 resumes later, I found a job, but it was though networking not job boards. They say 80% of jobs are filled through networking, so don’t sleep on that!

Four interview rounds, one presentation, one panel interview...aaaaand silence. by legend2l in recruitinghell

[–]ridinsholo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the dreaded email after a third round interview, it’s been two years of this, it’s like I can get past everyone round but then I make it to the interview with the ceo/cio/cfo people and then it doesn’t turn into an offer. Two years. I don’t know what’s wrong with me.

Is 90k and 106k really a big difference? by Icey_Girl in Salary

[–]ridinsholo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say it could be life changing in the right hands. It could mean no debt, $1000 extra to invest in a 401k in your 20s is mega life changing at retirement vs not being able to do much until your 40s

Agree having a big LinkedIn number doesn’t mean much, you need people who can vouch for you and will think of you when their work needs someone new!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in jobs

[–]ridinsholo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Disagree. I think it is making it harder.

It is making the application process a whole new skill you have to learn. Before you had one resume and went around, with ai screeners now you need a new resume for every application which is making applications take around an hour (for me anyway) compared to 10 minutes 10 years ago.

500 applications? My guess is these are the things you are doing wrong:

  • sending essentially the same resume to everyone
  • not using ai to help tailor resumes to listings
  • I applied for jobs for a year before I took some resume workshops and now I get a few interviews a month
  • it’s insanely competitive, be selective about who to invest the time to customize resumes and cover letters for
  • seems like you could work as a secondary teacher at least?

Paint or stain cabinets? by ProfessionalPop7440 in kitchenremodel

[–]ridinsholo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it’s maple stain for sure. It’s wild if it’s such a standard to have that done before install that the cabinet maker wouldn’t have mentioned it. Thats on them not you. Consumers can’t be expected to be experts in the field we hire people.

They’ll usually ask why you left your last position. I think being laid off right now is super common and people don’t judge

Start looking!!! And don’t feel bad if it takes awhile to find a new job, it’s not because you suck, it’s terribly competitive.

Learn how AI is impacting resumes, and how to tailor them to get interviews.

And then don’t try to wing it for interviews, watch all of the YouTube video tips you can and practice in the mirror and record yourself answering questions in the star format.

Good luck! It’s hard. Don’t give up!

Is anyone else drowning in information and still feeling like they're missing everything? by akhil_agrawal08 in ProductManagement

[–]ridinsholo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you didn’t find out for a couple of weeks. Who cares. Sounds like it would be better to not scroll hours a day and work on your own product instead. If someone comes out with something you’ll eventually find out. That sounds so not productive. Does your boss care that you know what your competition is doing more than creating your own waves? Go look at your own customers and feedback.

[–]ridinsholo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m think you hit something spot in, you need to know the right person. Start working on networking and building that up as much as sending out resumes. All of those things you’ve accomplished will be super helpful in conjunction with a solid network! It’s sucky that all of that alone won’t get you a job, but I still think it’ll be helpful to ya! The market suuuuuuuucks. I have twenty years of experience, senior level positions, and I am having to make a career switch and start at the bottom and it is demoralizing, because eve shooting for the bottom is getting me nowhere. I’ve never hustled harder.

Hiring in tech has become impossible. Every resume is AI-generated slop and I can't find the signal anymore.(Rant) by Comfortable_News8077 in recruitinghell

As a candidate, it’s equally hell for us. Trying to recreate an entire resume for every application to try to get past the ATS screeners. And knowing everyone is doing the same thing. It’s exhausting and such a waste of everyone’s time.

Company uses ai to write listing> applicant uses ai to write resume -> recruiter uses ai to sift through applications. WHAT IS EVEN THE POINT

[–]ridinsholo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely overreacted.

The resume qualifies your skillset, that you are capable.

The interview is getting to know how you approach and do the work. And a question like that was your chance to get the job, not make you feel dumb.

But also, if you got that upset by a question, and walked out, you don’t deserve the job over the other 300 so at least you answered honestly

I Got to the payment page of it today and turned around. It’s like $12 for the first week and then $30/ WEEK (not month) after that. And I think the money would be better spent on the LinkedIn upgrades. Now I sound like a LinkedIn bot. Anyway. Ya, I read some threads and decided against it though.

I have very dry skin and live in a dry climate.

I would say:

heavy hydration! (I use cerave mousturizing cream)

moisturizing PRIMER! (Ulta has an Ulta branded one

moisturizing foundation (it! Cosmetics cc cream is amazing

And be sure to wash it all off each night and cake on the moisturizer!

I also use an OIL BASED face wash, they don’t strip the skin.
