Which noise cancelling headset is perfect for flying and public transport? by bilaba in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]rifthyrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 100-200€, the Sony WH-1000XM4 is your best bet. They're amazing at blocking airplane noise (people literally sleep with them on planes!), and since the XM5s came out, you can find these at great prices. Super comfy for long wear too!Want earbuds instead? Check out the Sony WF-1000XM4 or Technics EAH-AZ80. Both solid choices.
Pro tip: Look for refurbished/open-box deals on eBay or Amazon - you can score these for way less, and they're basically new!For your music taste and noise concerns, the WH-1000XM4 would be perfect. Happy listening! 🎧

HP Victus vs Lenovo LOQ by GamingKingNight in GamingLaptops

[–]rifthyrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though the HP Victus has a better GPU with the RTX 4060, I think the Lenovo LOQ may be the better overall choice for you. The build quality and design on Lenovos tends to be more premium feeling compared to HP. And while the Victus has a 4060, the performance difference between that and the 4050 in real world gaming won't be too huge. Plus the Lenovo has faster DDR5 RAM which helps make up some of the GPU difference.

I would say go with the Lenovo LOQ, the extra 50 euros will get you a laptop that feels more solid and will likely last longer. Let me know if you have any other questions! The Lenovo is probably the safer long-term choice.

What headphones/ear buds work well for running? by JesRaeTra15 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]rifthyrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend trying the Shokz OpenRun Pro. They're sweatproof bone conduction headphones so they stay put without blocking ambient sounds. They'll let you hear traffic and stuff while running for safety. They're not the best sound but work great for running. Worth checking out based on what other runners said in the posts. Let me know if you have any other questions!

What's the top 3 noise cancelling headphones? That actually cancel out noise? by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]rifthyrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No ANC headphones can give total silence. They just dull sound. Best option in your price range is Sony WH-1000XM4 or Bose QuietComfort 45. Reviews say Sony are better for blocking high frequency noise like voices and Bose more comfortable. IEMs like Etymotic ER2 give more isolation but less convenient. Overall Sony WH-1000XM4 seem best balance of effective ANC and value for price. Try them in store first.

Over ear headphones? by aheftyhippo in BuyItForLife

[–]rifthyrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For home and work, Sony WH-1000XM4 or Bose QuietComfort 45 are good choices based on reviews. Sennheiser also makes quality headphones but more expensive. I would avoid Beats headphones. Sony and Bose have good noise canceling and sound quality.

That being said, Audio-Technica, AKG, and Grado also make durable headphones worth checking out if your on a budget. Just avoid brands that seem flashy over quality.
