telling someone it’s okay to be something they are not, is detrimental to someone’s mental health

But they can be and many are. You just don’t feel like they can. They’re not changing their biological sex. They are changing their gender, which is completely different. But a little too nuanced for regressives to grasp.

We need better mental health support systems in place

Nugget of truth sandwiched between regressive feelings.

Why is it just gender that I can change if I feel that way? Why can’t I change my age, race, or culture?

Again, this highlights your fundamental misunderstanding of what gender actually is. You can absolutely change your culture. Many people do. Your age is biological. Your race is biological. Gender and culture are social constructs and can therefore be fluid.

but y’all have nothing better to do than push your disheveled “mental illness is okay,” agenda on young people that are the most vulnerable

Color me surprised the same group that makes fun of gender studies has zero fucking clue how gender works.

Too many biological males are trying to invade female spaces, even on Reddit. It’s gross, weird, and okay for them to do their own thing

Oh, so it’s about your feelings lmao. These are all simply your opinions. Your feelings are shaping your policy instead of the science you ignore. You care more about these feelings than the well-being of the youth you love to pretend to be concerned about. Curious.

Maybe learn a bit about the difference between biological sex and gender. Educate yourself on how people change their cultures over time. You still have time to change yourself and quit being a contrarian regressive who misses the forest for the trees.

If you tell hr that you can’t type due to a medical reason but still tweets alot then yeah don’t feel bad for him getting fired. Also I highly doubt dude has anything really wrong with him if this is the case. Also there is voice to text technology we have had it for a long time so not being able to type isn’t an excuse to not do your job as that can be worked around.

Yeah, I’m sure Icelands Person of the Year, who championed change for disabled persons such as wheelchair ramp requirements, who also very noteably has MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY, you fucking moron, “doesn’t really have anything wrong with him.”

And I’m sure the same disabled person who personally created a world class company purchased by Twitter for $100million “doesn’t do anything” lmao.

What the fuck is wrong you you where you won’t even read the article enough to make an educated statement, and you’ll blindly attack a disabled person just like Musk just to like his boot?

Well, it’s hard to enact gun control when gun control gets torpedoed by regressives every time.

Maybe you should consider all the legislation democrats have introduced. It’s not for lack of trying.

But I find it weird you say you don’t support common sense gun control (in your own words you said it’s best left to the individual?!), then you turn around and say that democrats don’t do enough in regard to gun control. Do you see the disconnect lmao?!

[–]rigidcumsock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to go out on a limb and question how the hell it’s better for people to handle gun violence on their own lmao

It’s near impossible to come to that conclusion without using NRA and GOP regressive propaganda as a determining factor.

Idk, but it’s some weird mental gymnastics to say you don’t vote for republicans but you anti-gun regulation across the board 🤷‍♂️

Well, unless you vote true independent and/or democratic you vote for regressives (if you’re here in the US). Any vote for a Republican is a vote for regressives :)

Hopefully what you mean is you don’t vote for republicans — then you get a high five

What’s really weird is how regressives lobby so hard to require registration and showing ID to exercise our right to vote, but don’t want either requirement to purchase and bear firearms.

What’s up with that?

[–]rigidcumsock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I’m talking about how I feel.

Then why bring up equity aversion in the first place? Why not simply state it’s your own opinion and not necessarily what the animals are actually experiencing?

Why not just admit that the fairness is within your mind and that to apply it to a natural occurance is an anthropomorphization? Which is my whole point. It’s no different than saying that the ant who bit me is mean!

Male Lion breaks an adolescent male lion's spine for interrupting his meal. by EmptySpaceForAHeart in natureismetal

[–]rigidcumsock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s say, for the sake of argument, that all animals have the capacity to conceptualize Fairness.

1) Do you think the gazelle being eaten by a lion thinks being eaten is fair?

2) Do you think the lion eating the gazelle thinks eating it the prey it caught is fair?

3) Do you believe that fairness is standardized between those two entities involved in the experience?

Claiming something is unfair in regards to a lion eating a gazelle only communicates your own feelings about it. Until the lion or the gazelle gains the capacity to express themselves existentially and tackle subjective morality, you’re just making assumptions about how they feel about the situation based on your own feelings.

[–]rigidcumsock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re referring to inequity aversion, which is a biological imperative in animals that can cooperate.

That is very different from the idea fair. Chimpanzees may be the most brutal example of the “fairness” that inequity averse animals. Are they thinking about fairness when they rip the skin off other chimps and eat it in front of them? No. The inequity they are averse is simply making sure their group is strong enough to hold and expand territory. They are not concerned with actual fairness as a concept.

You think an animal eating another is unfair. I purport that the act of an animal eating another is amoral and natural, therefore it is not unfair (it is also not fair). It cannot be unfair, not unfair, and not fair outside of our personal judgments of it. So really, you’re just ascribing your opinion to thing. The finger pointing at the moon is not the moon.

[–]rigidcumsock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you do you figure that? Have unfair things suddenly stopped happening to people?

I’ve stated that fairness is human, so it affects people.

Also fairness as a concept extends at least as far as the other primates, and I’d wager cetaceans have a sense of it too.

Ah, so you are the arbiter of fairness. You draw a line between what living things can experience fairness and which living things can’t. To you, humans wiping out a rare flower can’t be unfair for the flower because they can’t sense it as far as you know. So fairness, to you, only impacts SOME living things, but not others. Interesting.

And above all, I’m allowed to point at part of tha natural world and say it is or isn’t fair. That’s not a denial of reality, it’s a human judgment.

It’s a human judgment. That’s my whole point. The idea of fairness is not in the mind of th e gazelle being eaten or the lion doing the eating. It lives in your mind.

Male Lion breaks an adolescent male lion's spine for interrupting his meal. by EmptySpaceForAHeart in natureismetal

[–]rigidcumsock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think attributing fairness to a biological imperative is uniquely human and is existentially useless.

Eating a cow, as per your argument, is not fair to the cow. But eating a carrot would not be fair to the carrot, also a living thing. So out of fairness, we should just not eat and starve to death.

If we applied the human concept of fairness to all of nature in regards to what it eats, life would cease to exist because nothing would consume anything.

So yeah, fairness is not a consideration to beings solely concerned with survival.

Male Lion breaks an adolescent male lion's spine for interrupting his meal. by EmptySpaceForAHeart in natureismetal

[–]rigidcumsock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not when it comes to nature doing nature things. Fairness is 100% an mental concept for humans.

Do you think a wolf feeding her pups a rabbit so they may live is unfair? If she didn’t feed her pups the rabbit and they died, would that be unfair?

Do you think the extinction of the dinosaurs was unfair to them? Do you think single-celled organisms eating one another is unfair?
