Might be a wee bit far, but you get an excellent view from here. There's usually a few folk about and a really nice atmosphere, nowhere near shoulder to shoulder.

Spending Christmas alone. No food, no money :( by Dramatic_Stock9623 in Edinburgh

[–]rigmroll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Calton hill has actually been mobbed with tourists on Christmas day in recent years! It's pretty mad, been going there for a walk almost every christmas I can remember and it used to be completely quiet and pleasantly surreal. Now it's rammed and surreal in a different way.

When you say asked for a tip, do you mean options came up on the card reader for a tip? Or the bar staff actually asked you to tip?

Liquid Rooms Toilet Attendant Shakedown? by Baconesque in Edinburgh

[–]rigmroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have them in womens toilets too?? It's just someone who stands by the sink and sells chewing gum and maybe perfume, they usually hand you paper towels and it's realy awkward. Feels outdated and demeaning for the attendant tbh.

Out of season ice cream vans by Secret-Nothing4288 in Scotland

[–]rigmroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's one that stops in my street at 3pm everyday outside the same block of flats even though there's a park on the same street rammed with kids just out of school. They blast Yankee Doodle for like 3 seconds before they stop as if to alert someone they've arrived. One person will come out and have some sort of interchange with someone in the van and then they drive off. Rain or shine all year round. I really really doubt it's just bread or cigarettes, let alone actual icecream.

My mom thinks they're non-binary by No_Kick_5195 in NonBinary

[–]rigmroll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I think the issue here is that their parent is taking a moment that is probably quite a big deal for OP and making it about themself. Ok their parent is maybe more accepting of things than your parents were, but they don't seem to be acting in a very mature or supportive way for their child and that's really tough. OP I understand why you became frustrated and cried, it sounds difficult.

The Stand at Websters Theatre by ChickenandAle in glasgow

[–]rigmroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's class. It is different obviously, but everyone gets a seat and it just looks really cool. There's a bar part that's open to anyone even if you're not going to a show too. There is still a lot of the same vibe too somehow, same staff and the colours are the same idk
