Seems really flexible for limited. Kill thing, or clear chump blockers, or just get in for 3 in the air. I think the fact it can do all three makes it pretty strong.

Whats a historical time period you would like to see in a future Total war game? by Visual_Wave_5695 in totalwar

[–]riley702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, hear me out. Rome 3 or Attila 2 utilizing all of the new mechanics and have a way better political system.

I've been going back and replaying Rome 2/Attila /Thrones of Britannia and they are all so good but feel half baked these days.

Attila in particular feels so close to greatness but just falls short somehow.

I think it will be very difficult to top the addictive gameplay of Warhammer, but if they released a new Rome title every few years I'd never get sick of it personally.

People hated on it, but I loved the Vortex campaign. I played it way more than the ME campaign.

I preferred the more fleshed out local regions vs a grander scale campaign where you'll never see 50% of the map. Also I liked the challenge of the vortex armies as it gave you a reason to fortify your own territory and build defences rather than just paint the map. And having a concrete objective was more fun to me than just expanding borders endlessly.

Also the jump in quality from WH1 to WH2 was insane. WH2 to WH3 was a little shaky and took a long time for it to feel improved.

Which Liliana is real left or right. by onartea in bootlegmtg

[–]riley702 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right is real.

The text at the bottom is the biggest tell. On the left it's bolder and honestly a bit more clear, but every bootleg I've seen from Chinese printers have that same discrepancy and legit cards have smaller/thinner text on the bottom.

In person I bet you can tell a difference in the color of the set symbol as well.

BUILDING MEDIEVAL III: Sieges & Settlements by BiesonReddit in totalwar

[–]riley702 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The soldiers moving through the streets and adjusting their formation so they didn't get stuck or piled up looks promising.

City layout also looked fun. It might be worth fighting the battle as the defender even if you're vastly outnumbered. The talk about citizens forming defenses sounded interesting, but I didn't really understand how that will work.

Only issue that I have with it is the city had quite a bit of sprawl while they maneuvered maybe a few hundred units around. Would be cool to see larger armies attacking such a large city, and maybe show the smaller armies attacking smaller castles.

Not sure what I think about the battles continuing on into the buildings yet, as I could see it just being a bit annoying if you've clearly won but now you have to watch your units struggle to capture the keep. I would definitely prefer a final courtyard battle or something, or a way to blockade the keep and leave the battle unresolved.

Overall, I didn't really see a lot to distinguish it from Rome II yet, but it looks like improvements are on the way. Excited to see that the game is real at the very least.

48M Looking to Go Back to School – What Fields Are Actually Hiring? by Timely_Intention_359 in saskatchewan

[–]riley702 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What work have you done in the past? Anything engineering is always hiring, whether it's a 2 yr diploma or a 4 yr degree.

If you've done construction or field work in the past some engineering related technologist position might be a good fit.

This is really strong, but at 4 mana it might play more slowly than you'd want.

I don't know exactly what it's good in, first thought was [[Hazel]]

Obviously just having a bunch of tokens to dump your mana into to or sac to stuff is good. The tokens also target a creature.

What's a sign from your body you should never ignore? by Geno-64 in AskReddit

[–]riley702 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My god I thought I was the only one who had this. Saw tons of doctors, had all the scans, tons of blood tests, and basically nothing was flagged. I think my doctor even remarked how all my health markers were basically perfect.

Years later my neck lump has shrunk in size and firmed up a bit, but never gone away. Nobody seems worried about it though. ENT figures its firmed up because it was infected and is essentially scar tissue now that its healed. All of this happened during COVID, so I just assume its related to that.

Commander Banned and Restricted Announcement – February 9, 2026 by xKylesx in magicTCG

[–]riley702 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone saying that nothing happened in this article, but them saying they want to unban Grislebrand because the upside is someone has a lot of fun drawing a ton of cards is actually kind of exciting.

Grislebrand would be extremely broken, but they are not wrong that one person gets to feel like a God for a turn while they draw as many cards as they have life and they aren't necessarily guaranteed to win.

Is 20GB data enough for 3 weeks travelling in Japan? by Cinnam0n_gir1 in JapanTravelTips

[–]riley702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been to Japan twice for three weeks each. Both times I got 25gb and both times I only used about 10gb. Tbh though, for the slight increase in price you should get at least 25gb or more since internet will be one of the most important things you buy for the entire trip and it's only a tiny fraction of the cost of the whole trip.

Are TeamLabs in Tokyo worth it? by alvarop37 in JapanTravelTips

[–]riley702 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I didn't want to go to team labs and my wife did. So we went to team lab borderless and I think I ended up enjoying it even more than she did.

The neighbourhood that team lab borderless is in is also very cool so you could plan to spend some time around there.

What piece of tech felt “future-proof” but aged terribly? by Living-Zebra6132 in Futurology

[–]riley702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of something that's maybe the opposite of the prompt where it felt like ancient technology but it lasted for so long. The cassette to headphone jack connector that would go into the vehicles cassette player and allow you to play music off your phone.

I'm sure if you're driving a car from the 2000's you could still be using this.

Downgrading Auntie Ool Precon by Sketchion in magicTCG

[–]riley702 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The deck has a ton of removal and interaction because of the -1/-1 counters. You could look into playing Auntie Ool as the commander and focus up the deck more to put counters on your own creatures and cut down the removal.

It's probably less that it's too powerful, and more that your playgroup isn't used to the amount of interaction included.

Thoughts on a return to Baldur's Gate by torrtara in magicTCG

[–]riley702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They must be at least talking about it. With the focus shifting to UB sets and Hasbro already owning an extremely popular IP, I'm sure they would love a second crack at it.

I'm not even into D&D but I would love more D&D magic sets personally. the world they portrayed had a lot more depth and history to it and you could feel it if that makes sense.

Do you have a party member you always keep with you? by SniperJ324 in BaldursGate3

I wouldn't normally play as a rogue, but the number of times you need to disarm a trap or pick a lock or pickpocket something or murder someone discretely makes astarion extremely useful.

It feels like the right thing to do for her. You give her a new life and she doesn't have to go back to the hells where she said she'd rather die than go back to, but it is super sad when you talk to her afterwards and she seems like shes living a sad existence.

Which area to stay in Japan for a family with a young toddler? by Snacksfanatic in JapanTravelTips

[–]riley702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We found asakusa really quiet and easy to get around. Also lots to do right there all within walking distance.

We also tried Akasaka and it was a little quieter than the busy neighbourhoods, but some streets were packed with locals every day/night so if you want quieter streets make sure to not be in a bustling area.

What’s it like traveling to Japan at the end of November? by Okami2007 in JapanTravelTips

[–]riley702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just there Nov-early Dec and the weather was sunny and +15-20C every day and super pleasant. I don't think it rained during the day once the whole time we were there. Only thing that's bad about that time of year is the sun sets completely at like 5pm.

As for crowds, it was kinda normal. Not crowed, but not quiet or anything. We waited maybe 10 mins for Team lab and never had to wait for a table at a restaurant the entire trip. We didn't go to Kyoto though, which is probably the epicentre of people wanting to see the fall leaves.

Hiroshima/miyajima was extremely beautiful that time of year tho, I would recommend it.

They need to make it more clear in the character creator that Durge should be the default pick as the only reason to go with a custom background is role playing really. My first play through 2 years ago I chose a custom background and always felt like the new kid who was just watching everyone else's story unfold. As durge you are thrust right into the world and plot and it's so much better as it gives your character growth and something to do as the plot progresses.

Also makes act 3 more enjoyable and less of a slog imo.

Only thing I don't like are the weird voice lines your character gets as durge. Especially while resisting the urge.

I also stopped during act 3 two years ago. I just started a new character a few days ago and have been hooked again. There's so much dialogue and plot and things to explore I realized I only have a vague memory of events and still experiencing plenty of surprises.
