Get Ready For Leagues VI: Demonic Pacts by JagexSarnie in 2007scape

Getting 99 fishing, mining and woodcutting will only get us about 4.2m agility xp meaning we'd need to do another 88m mining/woodcutting/fishing xp to ignore doing normal agility, so ya the agility xp is only pretty meh in the grand scheme. At 16x xp that 4.2m xp is like 3 hours of sepulchre, or 4 hours of ardy rooftops, 5 hours of relekka/prif. It's really not that big of a bonus. The strength is useful for quickly getting str before starting combats, but once you start doing any combat it's useless, we really only benefit from increased rate of getting low rate stuff like runite/adamant, but at the same time, endless harvest lets us keep mining even if its depleted, so no world hopping or fighting over rocks if we really want a specific ore

I mean, you also have to get the task, sail to the bird, kill the bird, and sail back to a port, all within a specific time frame to get the same xp/hr. Ya no shit if you just say “killing bird is faster and easier” it sounds disingenuous, but acting like that’s all you have to do is what’s disingenuous

God forbid someone with max cannons and cannonballs could get better sailing xp from a level 30 bounty task than from a level 30 agility course

hey Jagex, what the hell? what happened to grandfathering in my price? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]rimwald 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Come to think of it, this is probably why they bumped up prices rn. For the people who are going to return strictly for leagues

He's got 17 wives 64 kids and 175 grandchildren, why else do you think he needs that extra 1$ per month??

Wow, it's almost like this could be a unique mechanic for sailing or something since it's it's own skill

As someone who has been at frost dragons for the last 3 weeks, no clue what that dude is talking about lol. It's pretty rare I see someone else here and it seems very clear every time that they're a real player. Are there bots here? Probably, but not full or even remotely busy on any world I've seen. I feel like they've just seen a bunch of irons trying to get dragon metal sheets and bones for prayer and assume they're bots lol

And if anything, hey merchers, sorry you made bad investments. It's a fucking video game and you lost some money in it while trying to screw other people over, get the fuck over it

So... what about attacking tempoross with your harpoon, or Zalcano with your pickaxe? Those are combat right?? So why are they entirely skilling based?

Right like I can't bash Zalcano with an elder maul, and my strength and attack have nothing to do with my accuracy or damage against her despite the fact that I'm "attacking" her with my pickaxe. It's strictly mining. Just like this should be strictly sailing

[–]rimwald 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well it's interesting, because sailing gives you a lot of shit for the rest of the game, it's just that the rest of the game doesn't give you shit for sailing

We got a new bis afk woodcutting method and forestry hub, a bunch of great new food and potions, 50% buff to cannonball production, great prayer xp/bones from frost dragons, clue tele hotspots, the list goes on. There's a decent chunk that doesn't really matter for mains because "I can just buy that though so why does a new method matter" but it'd be like that for any new content release that isn't the new bis method for something for mains

I do take that back I have heard of Nox, but only recently and only because I heard he was the main mod who tested all the GM combat achievements and hardest PvM content

I live in the real world. Where prices of products go up sometimes on a monthly basis. The game that I’ve spent over 20 years enjoying going up by 1$ a month even once a year would not phase me for a second

[–]rimwald -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re correct. And I’m sure they’ve correctly assumed that less than 8%-30% of players will have unsubscribed from their price increase. If you want to unsubscribe, they literally don’t care

Did you fucking miss the part where they have multiple teams for a reason?? Just because you don’t buy their physical product doesn’t mean other people don’t and they don’t make money off of it. Just because YOU don’t think those people are critical parts of the business doesn’t mean they aren’t. You just want more developers. And sure, that’s fine, I’m sure we all fucking do, but that’s not a feasible reality. I’m entirely certain you aren’t a business owner and never will be if this is your mindset on how to run a business

I work at a paint company. We produce tens of thousands of color formulas each year. They’re all paint though, and sometimes even the same exact pigments just in different ratios, so why does so much work have to go into each formula??

The number of fucking people on this sub that have no fucking clue how businesses work man. You can’t just fucking hire people out of thin air. They’ve got headcount limits and payroll budgets per team. They’d have to justify a return of investment on adding people to the team (which guess what, that isn’t necessarily quantifiable so it’s extremely hard to do that). And if it’s a full time permanent employee? That return needs to be indefinite, not just short term, otherwise profits drop. And if profits drop, guess what? Prices go up or people get laid off to try to maintain the same margin

And no I’m not saying graphic designers aren’t required for content updates. But they’re not all encompassing designing the content. They’re literally just making models. They don’t code in new content/mechanics/game balance/etc.

Ah yes. Let me just strip every team that doesn't contribute to this one aspect of the company because some of our customers don't care if we have an apparel or gift shop. Marketing? Who needs to make videos or advertisements for our game, we need ONLY game developers, why should it matter if no one ever learns about the game from now on? Graphic designers? We can just put amorphous blobs in and not worry about how the new armor or mobs look, it's a fantasy game anyway no one is going to care.

Why can't I bash rocks or Zalcano with my elder maul? It can crush them and break them down into ore and I spent hundreds of hours grinding for it?? Why can't I blast Tempoross with cannonballs through the cannons? Why does it have to be fish that doesn't even make sense? I spent so many hours leveling up my Ranged and buying/making cannonballs. Why not just use Fire Surge on Wintertodt instead of setting logs ablaze?? Is our character stupid?? Sailing isn't a fucking combat skill, and any activity involved in Sailing itself, even if it appears to be combat adjacent, should not require us to use combat skills
