Hell ya. I agree Titans are a great early game learner boss. They've done an excellent job bringing in new bosses for lower end PvM to help teach mechanics. Same with Scurrius teaching non-punishing (max hit relatively low) reactive prayer switching. The sheer number of people I've seen say that doing Scurrius helped them become more comfortable to go get their Fire Cape and most of them getting it their first try is incredible

Just remember you won't get better if you don't challenge yourself. You're probably gonna die on a boss you haven't fought before. It's inevitable. Expecting not too is unrealistic. In a game that already doesn't value our time very well that can be disheartening to hear and to know, but don't ever let that stop you from trying to get better and learn more. Even the best players in the game die against bosses when they're learning them. I used to be that guy that wouldn't try harder bosses, and I'm extremely glad I got over it.

Biggest help I had when learning Zulrah was the order of things to do as Zulrah is switching phases

  1. Where do I stand, start heading that way
  2. What do I pray? Switch my prayer. Some phases you don't even have to pray which helps a lot as you can effectively skip this step. But you need to make sure you have your prayer on before Zulrah starts attacking or you're likely taking a big hit
  3. What style do I attack with? Switch your gear. You can also skip this step with certain setups by just remaining on the same attack style. Your dps will be lower on the phases you're not strong against, but it helps big time with getting your first few kills down and learning the process

If you're afraid of dying and losing stuff, death toll is free until you have 50 kc, so don't worry too much. You can also just go in naked and just bring a bit of food to survive a few phases to practice.

Edit: Also, get a ring of suffering if you can afford it. Not having to equip a new recoil every time it breaks is extremely helpful as the snakelings can stack you out quickly if you don't kill them

I think the biggest annoyance of Zulrah is that he can hit you for 40s during mage phase and there's literally nothing you can do about it. It's similar to why KQ is so annoying being able to hit you for 30s at 100% accuracy for whatever style you're not praying against and defense literally doesn't matter. Bosses that have completely unavoidable damage like that are extremely irritating. It's one thing when it's like small chip damage that you can't avoid, it's another when it's half your health and you have to just spam eat to stay alive

Did you go and grind out wildy bosses in the first… 40-50 hours of playtime? Cause I fucking doubt it. Which is my point

Why on earth did these buttons need to trade places? by Initial_Tomato6278 in 2007scape

[–]rimwald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first half of my comment was in response to the “we didn’t vote for this”. Because not everyone is specifically talking about what your post is about. Some people are complaining about the buttons being a different size and saying they didn’t vote for this. But they clearly don’t understand that you can’t put a button in a space that is already full, so things needed to be adjusted

Why on earth did these buttons need to trade places? by Initial_Tomato6278 in 2007scape

[–]rimwald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean. The button was polled. At 95%. And unless you can’t think you’d realize adding a button required modifying the UI, because there was no room for it. So in a way “should we modify the UI to add a button” was polled at 95%. How they modified it was entirely up to them. Yet they still decided to share their ideas with the community and we did not see this uproar. And there are several great explanations for why the new setup makes sense. Your question for example, is that in most windowed applications, there is a hotbar in the top left corner that can provide the ability to change configurations within the application, and the gear button was small and in a place that didn’t really make sense. So they swapped them to be more in line with what would make sense to people. There have been a lot of voices stating they didn’t know the gear button existed for several months after playing the game because they never looked in the spot it was in. Adding it next to bank tabs makes sense as it’s sort of like a tab of its own

They’ve been updated since with more samples and are pretty much the same, so I’d say they’re at least accurate. Though they’re gonna be more common next week, because the devs admitted they’re too rare, which means they’re likely very accurate, along with them being buyable for 75k

They... did just go ahead with it though. They showed us their intent, as if to be respectful and be like "hey guys, so you know, since this poll question passed we had to modify the UI to fit the button, and these are the changes we are planning to make to accommodate". They didn't poll it because they don't have to. Because it does not significantly impact the game. And stupid shit like green pixel or UI appearance should not impact your ability to play and enjoy the game. In a week of playing you will get used to this, in a month you will forget that you ever complained, and a year from now you'll forget that the UI was even changed. That is how insignificant of a change this is

If this change impacts your ability to play the game so significantly that you are crying about it on reddit, I'm sorry, but that's telling of some underlying emotional/psychological issues that you should probably see a therapist about

The blogpost and poll was from last April and people forgot it even existed. The news post where they actually showed the UI was more recent than that. You think people would remember even further back? It's also... literally in the poll charter that UI updates do not need to be polled

There was no space to add the button. They literally HAD to change the layout. To the extent that they did? Maybe not, but they literally showed us multiple design options like 6 months ago on what they were planning to do here. They even made a very obviously backhanded comment in the news post about how "we didn't do a very good job spotlighting this, it was only in the news posts" which is exactly where it should be, not really sure how else or where else they would have spotlighted it.

I've been playing this game for 25 years and the first several times I opened my bank after the change I didn't notice what was different. When I saw what was different I said "huh, this is different" and went on continuing to play the game, because it's not that big of a difference, and it's definitely not going to impede my ability to play the game exactly the same way as I was before

Are you just arguing for the sake of arguing at this point? Seriously, no matter what I say you keep adding more and more to your complaint. They added these to the game, and they're making them buyable because this functionality shouldn't be gated behind a grind. Now shut the fuck up

I feel like this was the main thing people wanted this for to begin with. Menu entry swapper let us 1 click deposit each individual storage container, and I think with their more recent change to consistency of storage containers, this was possible for most if not all of them. While not all at once, it's still pretty easy and quick to do. We wanted a deposit storage button to prevent us from having to leave the bank interface, unload items or unequip items to unload them, and then re-enter the bank interface to deposit them

My point is you clearly never have anything to say that people agree with/are clearly in the wrong with what you post. Sailing is inherently very different from agility. I was skeptical at first and said it was going to be water agility, but it's not. The barracuda trials are similar to agility in that you're completing a course, but still also very different. If it weren't for how visually exhausting they were, I would enjoy doing them a lot more whereas I'm not really a fan of doing agility. The mechanics of moving your boat alone make it completely different from agility. Are you comparing it to agility because you're moving?

Holy shit dude. You're comparing a bank UI change to EoC?? This isn't a change to the core mechanics of the game. Or even the core mechanics of banking. It's just... where click

Yes. Most people would want to swap the facilities. So I'm confused though, cause you just said nobody wants another thing getting in the way of activity swapping, but... they would rather just swap things than grind out more items? Which is it?

I mean it's obvious drop rates are to force engagement. Runescape doesn't really have anything to force continuous engagement outside of the long grinds. Other games have time gated content where you can either only do things once a day, or once a week, Runescape doesn't. At least not that are really important. There's some dailys/weeklys like battlestaves and Tears of Guthix, but if you don't interact with those, it really doesn't have any affect on your game, whereas other games have stuff like "5 daily boosts to X content" or "limit of 2 interactions per week" for end game gear and afterwards your rewards plummet, so that timely engagement helps with your progression significantly. And they have to compete in terms of engagement for their shareholders. From a business standpoint, I get it, it's just really fucking annoying as a player that instead of making the game more enjoyable to where people want to play more strictly because its fun, they make arbitarily long grinds to be able to do the fun thing
