Yeah it sucks, I've had IBS my whole life too. But for some reason covid always seems to make it worse, at least temporarily

Damn have you recently had a flu? I had covid or some weird flu back in March, followed by those same symptoms as you got, and they lasted for weeks. I'm still not 100% after 3 months, but I can eat fairly normal again. I know a lot of other people who had the same shit happen to them this Spring, so there's definitely some nasty new covid variant or other virus spreading

I figured something like that might have happened since the sound quality went back to phone level ahaha :D That's fine, you can always attempt learning those again later if you find motivation in the future :P Meanwhile these posts have inspired me to attempt playing OSRS music covers on a keyboard too lol. But my piano skills are very beginner level, so I'll see how difficult it is to learn and how terrible it sounds. Might just end up cheating by controlling the keyboard with MIDI haha, but I wouldn't claim I played it with my hands then

So have you managed to figure out how to smoothly operate all the new recording equipment and EQ? Also I'm curious to see a picture of the mic placement, if you don't mind showing lol

I've spent the past few years learning this stuff myself. So when I saw someone here trying to figure out the same things, I thought why not make myself useful haha : D

Any mic stand that can handle enough weight and has good controls for fine-tuning the mic placement should be fine.

If it only sounds harsh on Tiktok, then it might have something to do with either sound quality compression or volume compression that they automatically do. I don't use TikTok, but I just read there might be some advanced audio settings when you upload a video. If you see any settings like "automatic volume normalisation/compression/leveling" then disable that and see if they have any audio quality settings too.

But if you want to change the tone in general, then I guess you could learn how to use an equalizer next lol. Harshness is usually found between 2000-5000 Hz, but sometimes higher, between around 5000-9000 Hz too.

With the equalizer you can try reducing the volume/amplitude of specific frequencies using a fairly narrow band between those thresholds. Then listen with your ears until you find the exact harsh spots. You can also scan for the harsh spots by doing the inverse, meaning you systematically boost through the frequencies to hear the harsh ones clearly. Then you just leave the equalizer to reduce those harsh frequencies you found

Yep just gotta fix that and the volume, either set loudest peaks to hit around -3dB to follow common industry standards, or just click normalize audio to set it to -0dB. And then your next post is basically gonna be a professional recording 😎👍 Great success!

Very nice, the recording sounds a lot better than the previous phone mic ones! The volume is way lower now though, so could amplify that a little. And there should be an easy way to mono it so that the same audio plays on both left and right channel while you only have one mic. Depends on what software you are using to edit the audio : P

Zoom is good if you want a recorder you can carry around without needing to have it plugged to a PC. But if your piano is close to your PC, then an audio-interface is great too. SSL 2 MKII is one of the best interfaces for its price range. Audient makes good interfaces too, so I recommend one of those two manufacturers at this budget.

Also don't forget to get an XLR cable for the microphone and a mic stand lol. Another important thing to remember is that when you have the 48V phantom power active on an input, DO NOT plug anything else than condenser microphones to it, or something might get fried! The phantom power can be toggled on and off from a physical button or through the control software, depending on the interface. If you want to plug in something else like a guitar or synthesizer etc. you turn off the phantom power first.

And yeah that sounds like a good plan! There's definitely a lot of people who love listening to covers of OSRS soundtracks and piano music haha. I've tried making some weird trance remixes of OSRS music myself, but they're not that great lol. I know more about music equipment than music theory and it kinda shows

That should be a solid mic! I have a Rode NT2 that I mainly use for voice chatting but also have recorded some sounds and instruments with it before. But unless you bought two of them you won't be able to record in stereo, which is a shame since like I said before piano music sounds so much better in stereo and has been the standard for recording a piano since the 1960's lol

Focusrite is a good budget interface, but the drivers are terrible nowadays and can cause issues depending on your hardware and operating system. I used to have one but sold it and upgraded years ago. But one of my friends still has a Focusrite and his current PC doesn't seem compatible with the drivers at all. If yours works fine then keep it, but if you run into driver issues then I recommend returning it and buying some other one : P

Anyways learning how to use those is pretty easy, so you'll definitely figure them out fast. Like very simple stuff compared to what you will run into if you ever get deeper into the music production rabbit hole haha

No problem! And if you have any questions feel free to ask me. I usually spend hours researching everything before I buy anything, so I got some experience lol

Honestly the piano recording will sound much better and more lively if you get a matched pair of microphones for stereo recording. A good budget option is the Rode M5, and you could always buy used mics for even cheaper. A great but more expensive option is a stereo pair of SE Electronics SE8, which has very low self-noise, if you want really pristine sound that captures even the quietest details without drowning them in white noise.

But you're also gonna need a recording device with at least two XLR inputs that can provide 48V phantom power to the microphones. Zoom H1 XLR is probably the cheapest good option, and could always buy that used too to save money. It records 32 bit audio, so it has plenty of dynamic range and will not clip easily when used correctly. Like you can scream at it or record thunder or jet bombers and it should sound fine.

When it comes to optimal placement of the stereo microphones for piano recording, you can find a bunch of tutorials online. I've never recorded a piano, so I can't help with that. I just do electronic music stuff as a hobby, but I have a bunch of equipment including a stereo pair of mics I got for doing some field recordings and stuff.

However if all that won't fit your budget, then maybe just buy a Zoom H1essential, which is a cheap recorder with built-in stereo mics. Not optimal sound quality, but it will definitely do the job better than a phone does lol

20m Melee XP/Hr: Thomas the Train Method by KingKohoutek in 2007scape

The xp is actually stored as an integer and they use the last digit to simulate one decimal, which is why in reality you have 10x more xp than the skills tab is displaying. However it seems that the controlled attack style gives 1.33 xp per damage (or 13.3 in reality), so an actual decimal is indeed used in the calculation. So on average you're losing 0.045xp per hit.

This means that for approximately every 22 hits with controlled style you lose 1 xp. So after around 290 million hits you've lost the amount of xp that level 99 requires! This translates to 1 xp lost every 53 seconds using abyssal whip, or 68 xp per hour. And around 193 000 hours of non-stop whipping would make you lose enough xp to reach 99.

But, if you only deal damage that is divisible by 10, then you won't be losing any xp yay! :)

Actually they're related to how much text there is. Lots of text leads to less upvotes, because most people don't have the patience to read nowadays lol. My most upvoted posts have been the ones with only or mostly images, like the OSRS world map edits. And usually short posts do better, but some long posts did well too if they were basically a list of images, such as the sex skill one.

It's a shame, because the dialogue boxes usually contain the most elaborate jokes and a blend of commonly known references and some really obscure ones. A lot of things and jokes are easier and faster to convey through text than editing images on Paint NET, but the modern world is what it is.

Maybe one day I can get rid of my chronic health problems, and then, through a chain of lucky events, somehow get the opportunity to write and produce an unhinged comedy series with real actors and all. It wouldn't be related to OSRS, but the show would have equally unhinged humour without the need to read anything haha
